for what ? their coastal guard, to fight smuggler and pirates.
did he name some of those countries ?

How much you think a Mowj vessel cost?

The Type 21 which is what Alvand class was based on (which is what Mowj class is based on) —cost $17M back in 1970 or roughly $135M adjusted for inflation today.

I would think Iran could make a Mowj for somewhere between $75-$100M which spread cost over 6 years of building is $12-15M/year or so. Very manageable.

I think the cheapest frigates in the world cost ~$250M, so I saying Iran can generate a 50%+ cost reduction due to cheaper labor and cost of raw materials coupled with [mostly] in house tech.

The only clients that come to mind would be Venezuela or Iraq maybe Sudan/Libya. Syria and Cuba are broke. Pakistan buys pretty much only Chinese or US products.

I don’t know many “weak” countries out there willing to piss off US and Europe by purchasing major Iranian arms.

open Wikipedia and see what's the purpose of corvettes and frigates around the world!

Then consider lower price, longer range missiles, ability to operate in shallow waters and reliable enough for ocean going missions.

They didn't even anounce the missile boat customers and you expect the names for this?!

Janes has classified it as frigate.

janes called it as what Iran called it . if its a frigate its the smallest and most under-powered frigate around the world.
as we are not obliged to categorize our ships as nato categorize their ship other country around the world are not going to do as we do
well only reliable if followed bu a base ship to support it . wonder how many countries have one of those

.
I think we have our answer, @jauk
The mystery surrounding the number of Z boats delivered to Venezuela. 7 confirmed delivery.
A logical first step before joint production.

I hope that you are getting paid in advance. As I understand it, Venezuela has less than $10B USD foreign cash reserves and this amount is trending lower.

Iran called it destroyer, not frigate.

Base ship, or support ship, even US with it's giant warships uses them, so again this ship has clear advantage in costs.

without a supply ship the design can't go much away

Whatever warship bigger than 1.500 tons it´s either big corvette or light frigate.
Corvette has been always a category designed as light escort for ASW purposes.
Whenever most of Moudge or Mowj (don´t get mad at me because of lexics) has torpedoes, and missiles with some AAW and a reasonable SSM capability it is a multipurpose frigate.

Talayieh is now known as Shiraz. Deylaman could be Taftan.
But Taftan is far for completion. Talaiyeh / Shiraz it is fitting out...
So must be the Damavand 2 renamed, as Mohsen suggested.
Anyway it is a long way for building a light frigate.
I think most of the problem it is diminishing budget because of the Sepah Navy.

. .
Taftan project was launched in 2017, Shiraz in 2016.

Has there been a recent picture of Taftan?
I saw a picture of Taftan at ISOICO shipyard with only hull completed, nothing about superestructure or mast or equipment. It was in a persian newspaper some 5 or 6 months ago. It was completely red painted for avoiding rust. It is going so slow!.

.
What is a 'moudge'? What is that. What language. What phonetics. Do you mean 'mowj'?

It was a picture published in the excellent Hi Sutton blog (Covert Shores)
You can see at the time of December 2022 the Taftan just hull primer painted
