Iran Unveils Tech for Oxygen-less Firing of Torpedos Under water
The Iranian Navy has unveiled a range of new military equipment that includes oxygen-less torpedo fuel, training warship, electronic jammer and Nano material to cover surface of the vessels.
Otto fuel is a home-grown fuel that is combustible in the absence of oxygen, enabling the underwater propulsion of torpedoes. Torpedos thus-propelled can be extended in range toward higher operational capability, PressTV reported Wednesday.
The equipment was unveiled in the presence of Brigadier General Mohammad Hossein Dadras, the Army’s second-in-command during Iran’s National navy day on Tuesday.
The ceremony also unveiled a conceptual and engineering design of a Persian Gulf training warship. It is 135-meter long and 16-meter wide vessel and will outfitted with the Iranian Navy’s latest technologies and equipment. The warship can carry 230 trainees.
Under the Mersad Project, the designing and development of a system needed for lightweight anti-submersible torpedoes testing was showcased. The Ra’d missile system’s testing mechanism, a sea-based missile system that can be used against all types of floating and flying targets.
The Damavand remote-controlled vessel fitted with anti-electronic warfare equipment was also unveiled. During combat, the vessel can be released from its naval unit and used to jam enemy radar, sonar, and fire control systems.
Nano material used for the covering the surface of vessels and naval equipment was also showcased. Application of such material helps reduce maintenance costs and contributes to the endurance of the objects it is used on.

These inshore corvettes are truly deadly for anything floating within a 1000 mile radius of the PG. Long arms with those anti-ship missiles, and easily can take on much larger vessels.

Problem with that "theory", is most vessels it's size or larger in the PG today have AshMs of similar or equal range and they (almost) all have proper defenses against incoming AshMs, which the Kaman/Sina classes absolutely do NOT.
Not that such vessels don't still have a purpose, just that while they do have a decent armament, it's largely defenseless against vessels or similar or larger size in the various Arab navies in the Persian Gulf. See the Barzan-class of the Qatari Navy and nearly all vessels of the UAE navy (whose navy is the "youngest" in terms of vessels, with most of the active fleet being built in the last 10 years or so).
Of course, this is a problem for ALL IRIN vessels at the moment: no CIWS to protect against AshM attack.

Agreed!,and its one of the most puzzling and frankly glaring oversights of the iranian navy,not to mention that this situation has been permitted to continue for so many years,its basically little short of criminal negligence and needs to be addressed immediately,personally I`m completely baffled as to why this has not been done a long,long time ago.
