looks a little but like a mini Boeing model, but again more crude.

It would be more interesting to see what IRGC can develop in this space.

The crude shape of the steel hull is not important even from an esthetic stand point because it will be covered with the acoustic polymer hull after the initial tests are completed.

You do not want to mount the acoustic polymer hull until you are done with the initial tests.

I will not discard the possibility of a new submarine, but to me it appears to be a Ghadir (or a variant of it).

Seems like an upgraded, optimized version of the Ghadir.

This is a good thing, because as long as Iran's military keeps progressing, Iran will be safe.

30 years ago some would laugh at the thought of Iran producing accurate missiles, satellites, submarines, etc. All those people have now had to eat their words as even western experts admit that Iran's military/scientific advancements, especially while under sanctions is truly remarkable.

Iran is under severe and devastating sanctions yet still progressing in every scientific/military field. USA, Russia, China and South Korea. There could be a few more however the list is not very extensive. The fact that Iran is joining that list, considering all the circumstances is really remarkable.

Now what Iran really needs is a nuclear powered submarine. Hopefully with a Conservative parliament we get

1) An Iranian nuclear powered submarine
2) An Iranian man/woman in space within the next year or two
3) Iran boosting its nuclear activities even more.

With a nuclear powered submarine, Iranian shipments to Venezuela for example can be escorted all the way, even if Iran is blocked from taking Suez, the hell with them, Iran can send the shipment via the horn of Africa, South Africa route. As long as it gets there, that's what counts because it lets Iran's enemies know that NOTHING can prevent Iran from doing what it wants.

Seems like an upgraded, optimized version of the Ghadir.

A new vessel called "Sardar Shahid Haj Qassem Soleimani" with a length of 65 meter is under development.

I assume it will be a Catamaran like the "Shahid Nazeri" below. For comparison, Shahid Nazeri has a length of 55 meter.

user "hufden" from another site, indicates that the one in the photo is a minesweeper in the final construction phase, as I have indicated by the red arrows it seems to have a catamaran hull, this could be the unit you indicated

It does not appear to be 65 meters to me, then again it is not completed yet. It could be that vessel. I am happy to see all these projects by the naval forces. Hopefully this means they are getting the needed budget. It appears Rahbar himself has pointed out the high importance of Iranian maritime forces. I hope to see a substantial increase in our naval forces, both qualitative and quantitatively.

I find this story a bit hard to believe. So they violated Iran's territorial waters, stole 6 Iranian Ghadir class subs and Iran did nothing?

The topic says Fiction and does not claim to be real. Part of the story is in 2021 and 2022. It is an interesting story and the writer believes that Iran has HUGE UUV power still undeclared.

This cimsec appears to be just another right wing military type think tank, tho whos really behind it is another question entirely. The interesting and to be quite honest rather amusing thing is that apparently they appear to have a section for tom clancy-eque bad military pulp fiction,at least from the look of this story:sarcastic:
That is a new one.......sadly tho like most fiction of its type its both badly written and poorly researched:tsk:

More idealized Hollywood fantasies about invincible and wholesome American soldiers easily wrecking havoc on the evil empires of the world. It's a joke. In reality, they have been in Afghanistan for 18 years with no end in sight and without their air support they would be out of Syria / Iraq within a week.

The thought process is novel and interesting and the guy knows communication and underwater maritime. I would give him an A.
