Ali Davoudi, a 19-year old Iranian and 2018 Junior World Champion, set new Junior World Records in the snatch and totals today in the +109kg category of the IWF World Championships.
The Junior snatch World Standard was 186kg, which Davoudi surpassed by 11kg in his successful 197kg lift.
The Junior World Standard in the total was 407kg, Davoudi lifted 227kg in the clean and jerk to set a new Junior World Record total of 424kg. Davoudi attempted 242kg and 245kg lifts in the clean and jerk but missed both lifts (cleaned the 242kg successfully though).
Davoudi was competing in the senior World Championships and finished 8th overall. At the age of 19 this was an incredible record breaking achievement, and there is no doubt that he will become a big star in the super heavy weight division in the next few years, potentially a great replacement for the retired Behdad Salimi.
