Iran wants negotiation in Iraq

Dear longbrained, what you said only happens in a utopia.
They know if they do these,Iran will become strongest nation in whole West and Central Asia,Africa and ME in no more than 10 years. Why should they let Iran become what they don't like?

Because they have no other choice. Their only other choice is going to let situation to go as it is and Iran will eventually with sanctions or air strikes, develop nuclear weapons and become a nuclear weapons state which also will eventually develop its own national reactor design too. The most difficult part of making a reactor is building fuel assemblies and Iran has just learned to do it, so it is going to be only a matter of time before Iran will have its own national reactor design too. West can greatly benefit from such a deal. A nuclear Iran overlooking the world's largest remaining oil reserves on planet earth is not in western benefit. On the other hand a friendlier Iran that is mighty but not nuclear weapons armed which can supply natural gas and oil to Europe is to western benefit. That is the only way for them if they understand that is. Iran is not going to budge. So it is the west which has to swallow its pride and kiss the Iranian feet as they had kissed the Chinese feet:

I am against Iran getting any more tech from the outside, like you suggested,
we need to develop it ourselves.

**** them, they cannot do anything anymore. all they can do is bark.
those who control oil control the world.
and Iran could easily cut the hormuz straight.

Well, it depends how majority of Iranians think if such a deal is indeed offered. It all depends on Iranians. Since Iranian government has invested so much of its pride on this project and if goes against the wishes of masses then it will lose a large chunk of its credibility and trust with people almost overnight. But if such a deal is offered and majority of Iranians are ok with it, then it is going to be good for Iran. India recently got such a deal from US for not joining Iran gas pipeline. US offered them 65 nuclear reactors and Uranium fuel. So it possible. Canada the "beacon" of human rights builds advanced CANDU reactors in China so why not Iran? Besides, it is good to have your own technology but importing the technology can greatly speed up things.

It will probably take Iran another 25 years to develop all kinds of main technologies internally and perfect them. Importing them can speed up things and Iran probably can get there in 10 years time. Besides, no body can stop you from developing your own tech while importing as well. Infact just like many countries do Iran can write its agreement so that any technology that is coming should be along with technology transfer so that Iran can internalize those technologies and build them itself. So people will get prosperous in 10 years time rather than in 25 which is not a bad deal. And besides you can keep your enrichment and all technologies which would give you a latent nuclear weapons capability so that if in future you decide to build the bomb because of bad western behavior or threats, you can just leave NPT and build them. So simple.

like always,your logic was great.Thanks
If they are still smart enough to start a peaceful negotiation and lift the sanctions, then it'd be great.Europe benefits the most from lifting Iran sanctions,A reliable gas source which will break the Russian monopoly in gas exports to Europe.
Reduced gas and oil price. It will benefit Pakistan too as it can make the gas pipeline without any difficulties.
But there is a major problem here: There is a warmongering blood thirsty state called Israel which unfotunately have a great influence on Western decisions toward Iran.AIPAC is riding U.S foreign policies as easy as a man rides a mule.

Europeans already know that they need Iran badly. An Iran getting most of its energy needs from nuclear power will free gas to be exported. Today Iran is the world's third largest consumer of natural gas in the world after US and Russia which is quite a waste since Iran's population is much smaller. But of course the largest losers in such a deal will be Israel, Saudi Arabia and to some extent Turkey. Israel's clout in the region will diminish and will have to start over with two state solution, Saudi Arabia's clout also will diminish and since the peace will bring down oil prices they will be particularly hurt since almost all of their economy is oil based as much as 80% as compared to Iran's which is just 10%. Turkey also will lose some of its clout but then will gain also through the royalties Europe will pay for the gas pipeline crossing over from Iran:

Beside energy waste, the reason that Iran consumes a lot of gas is that we produce 75% of electricity by thermal gas generators and reactors.Unfortunately we chose the easy way for producing electricity and we are exporting them to neighboring countries in a lower price.
Now slowly Iran is going toward Renewable Energy sources like solar and wind turbines.

Actually gas generated electricity is one of cheapest forms of electricity specially if the power plant is of advanced combined cycle type. Next comes coal and nuclear generated electricity along with geothermal. Despite all the talk of solar and wind generated electricity they are very expensive and can not be used to provide large amount of powers at cheap rates:

Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) has announced that the first round of the fresh talks between Tehran and the P5+1 will be held in the Turkish city of Istanbul, while Baghdad will host the second one.

PressTV - Iran sets Istanbul, Baghdad as venues for 1st, 2nd rounds of talks with P5+1

“Following several rounds of negotiations between the deputies of [SNSC secretary] Saeed Jalili and [EU foreign policy chief] Catherine Ashton, the two sides agreed to hold the first round of talks on Saturday, April 14 in Istanbul and the second round in Baghdad,” the council’s secretariat announced on Monday.

The sides also agreed to announce the time for the Baghdad talks at the end of the Istanbul meeting, IRIB reported.

Earlier on Monday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi stressed that Tehran would not accept any preconditions for the negotiations with the P5+1 -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the US plus Germany, expressing hope that a new round of talks would yield win-win results.

“Setting conditions before the meeting means drawing conclusions before negotiations, which is completely meaningless and none of the parties will accept conditions set before the talks,” he stated.

Iranian Top Negotiator Due in Istanbul Friday

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian top negotiator Saeed Jalili is due to leave Tehran for Istanbul, Turkey, on Friday to attend talks with the six world powers.

The four-member Iranian delegation, led by Jalili, would arrive in Istanbul on Friday this week, and would reside at that city's Hilton Hotel.

A number of Iranian reporters and photo journalists, too, would be accompanying Jalili in this trip.

The Iran - the G5+1 (comprised of the UN Security big five plus Germany) talks would be held at Istanbul's Lutfil Kirdar Hall.

The Islamic Republic of Iran's Ambassador to Turkey, Bahman Hosseinpour, who is now in Tehran, would be heading for Istanbul on Thursday and would be personally monitoring the sensitive event.

In addition, a large number of representatives of the international news media, reporters, cameramen and photojournalists have been dispatched to, or would be heading for Istanbul to give full coverage to these negotiations.

After a year of stalled talks, Iran and the G5+1 eventually accepted to resume their negotiations in Istanbul, Turkey, on April 14 and in case of good progress hold a second round of talks in Iraq's capital city, Baghdad.

The last meeting between the two sides took place in Istanbul in January 2011. Iran and the G5+1 had also held two rounds of multifaceted talks in Geneva in December 2010.

The Iranian team of negotiators is led by Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Saeed Jalili, while delegations of the six world powers are headed by EU foreign policy Chief Catherine Ashton.

It can be hold in Iran, but the P5+1 Negotiators are probably scared to enter Iran or something

But that is good. if they not come then we can say hey look we tried but they wont come to talk.
