Iran unveiled the third generation of its humanoid robot dubbed ' Surena III '

Arent those the 3 rules of Robots in iRobot? :D

"I, Robot" is a collection of short stories by Isaac Asimov, who made the rules and in all his Robot stories, those rules applied.

Interesting, now that we are talking about it, i should watch the movie again.

Cmon its was quite a good movie though.

I didn't watch it because it seemed like a typical, sci-fi action film, whereas Asimov's scifi books are a complete opposite to that. His books are the only stories were science is not bad and robots are not evil.

You should watch the movie, Robots arent evil there.

Anything, any of our young students from the region, does, no matter how small, is a cause for celebration and applaud. A young person with a pencil in hand is better than a gun in his hand.

Congrats to Turkey also.

But a reminder to the Turks, Pakistanis, and Iranians who are working on these. Don't forget to program Asimov's Three Law of Robotics:
  1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
  2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws
those were not Asimov's to begin and later he understood those law are useless and always tried to somehow made them more realistic.

Aside from that, there were no international participation of scientists and companies as it was in the case of Surena III project.
Is there any international participation of scientists and companies in Surena III project?

No, there is no International cooperation on this project... Iran would definately benefit from any international cooperation but in %99 of the cases with Iranian technological achievements there is simply pure Iranian efforts...

Your post is brilliant my Kardashi and we all hope a more mature ME that set ethnic, sectarian differences a side and focus on their %90 common history, culture, religion and principles... I wish a day in which all pioneers of ME jump into real, permanent technological, economical and scientific cooperation and make us Muslims proud in world scale.

btw, Iran since a while now, has no or little oil money to pour it into science and tech projects... Taxes in Iranian last year public budget had a share of %41 of the whole budget and next year it will be %72 (%72 of all public budget should come of taxes)...

Although Iran still exports oil in limited quantities but oil share in budget never exceeded %35 of the budget last year. From last year's +$110 billions of exports some $65 billions were non-oil exports.. so these recent oil-embargo on Iran was somehow a bless in disguise for Iran... overall, I wish Turkey and Iran and other hard work people of ME and Asia can re-find their lost position in world

This can be said 99% of the movies derived from books sadly.

Once again Iran makes me proud.

Btw: Turkey has also national project of humanoid robot.

This is Akinci/Akinoid II:

I think there is already a third version of this robot.

I don't get this? Why would you have a national humanoid robot program? Isn't that better left to the private sector?

Since there is little or no financial profits in such projects it is somehow normal in Iran to see these projects sponsored by Public universities or government directly. Btw, SURENA III has lots of private sector contribution in it... It is a multi-side project and many private companies are also involved but the main budget comes from Public Universities through national organizations related to the field...

For these kind of projects to be sponsored by Gov, there are numerous benefits for them... It is a platform set by gov to force local tech to get improved.. There are sensitive techs which will be developed around this robots.. Government and private sector can use these experiences in enhancing their own military and civilian projects... These projects are like Space exploration and manned spacecrafts.. these are sources of national pride and self-confidence and has great impact on young minds of Iran...

Humanoid robots are very exclusive in shape and form, but there are tens of Iranian private companies who are working and already producing robotic products for industry and military in Iran ...
