Iran to be urged to export LNG to BD : no IPI pipeline extension

If Bangladesh has the capability to invade and occupy all of southern India, then the Iranian gas is yours to buy. Otherwise, Bangladesh will need to build a very long pipeline under the Ocean I'm afraid.

I doubt you can blame the Ministers for anything. The country is being run from the Prime minister's office. The PM and her advisors takes all the major decisions and appearently this all ministers are performing a titular role.

Importing LNG is the right move according to me even if it proves to be costly. Last thing we need to do is to trust our neighbours.

This is going to be a very expensive deal.

If Pakistan can trust India and India can trust Pakistan, then we surely can too.

But we are not.. we cant import LNG by antagonizing USA.

India did not back up. there is no news about india being backing up. The Pipeline itself is called IPI (Iran, Pakistan, India).

Pakistan and India does not trust each other. however, on IPI they surely are trusting each other. If they can trust each-other on this then we can too. This could save millions of dollar.

India has a very good relationship with Iran and all other middle east countries. India is not really out of IPI line, but it is delaying the talks with Iran and Pakistan because it will ire the USA. When the nuclear dust is clear, India will go for both IPI and TAPI gas.

India has found a big gas reserve somewhere in Godabori in Orissa. But, it is a big country with a big population. So, India has good reason to seek oil/gas from many different sources.

If India involves itself with the IPI and TAPI gas lines, it will make economic sense for BD to join it. However, if that ignorant Muhith thinks the projects are cheap because BD can just send a few pipes to connect with Kolkata without paying a dime, then he is quite wrong.

BD will have to pay for 1/3 of the pipeline laying project inside Pakistan. It will pay half the total price from India-Pak border to Kolkata via Delhi, and will have to pay the entire cost from that point to its own land. So, the cost is very big.

Moreover, both India and BD will have to pay a transit fee to Pakistan, and BD will have to pay another round of land transit fee to India.

All Jamat-e-Islami branches around the world are fully supported and backed by Saudi Arabia. The Custodian of the Two Holy Masaajid is said to have spent around a $100 billion in the 20th century spreading their ideology.

Today, we see the fruits of this investment in Libya, Egypt and soon to be in Syria. After that it will be Afghanistan due to the Deobandi Taliban movement and then Bangladesh because of its huge Deobandi population. Taliban takeover of Afghanistan will have a bigger spill over effect in Bangladesh than anywhere else in the Muslim world.

Looks good on paper.

But has anyone thought about the sheer complexity and magnitude of such a project before committing to it? They couldn't even clarify the transit project linking with India.

BD needs to carefully evaluate this matter.

OK but doesn`t Bangladesh has rich Gas fields reserves ? If yes then why donot explore that instead of IPI which can be economically not feasible to Bangladesh

The onshore land area has some probable gas reserves. Some of the fields are producing gas. But, we need new gas fields to survive. Companies are digging and there are good results. BoB may have also very good reserve of gas, but it takes time to find, dig and produce.

Actually the issue is not the cost for laying pipelines or paying the transit fees. I am very much sure even if the initial investment will be high but in the long run it would be a cost-effective solution to our increasing energy demand. But question is can we really trust them? Its better to leave them alone as much as possible according to me. Specially when they will see the pipeline can be used to manipulate us in many ways and hinder economic growth they surely are going to use it. Their foreign policy is venomous by nature dude. Better even to try to convince Mayanmar to sell some gas. It is said they have around 200 billion cft only in 5 of their off-shore blocks. According to me, just leave the big cunning bully alone.

BD is growing economically. Their Foreign reserve is quite high. Why dont you people put pressure on United States and sabotage their economy ? US knows how big your market is and you people have one of the most financially sound middle class and China can take advantage of it.
