because it is not named after some Arabian bird, sword or animal. That is why it is strange according to him.

It should have been named Abu-islamic or Al-qaeda rocket! It must be renamed, cannot have Persian pagan name as it is haram in their sunni muslim arab culture.......lol

What's wrong with that ?

This is what we get if we don't test our missiles more often for political reasons.
As the guy on telly was saying they've planed to send 160 satellites by this SLV within next 10 years , so if it's really the plan and they want continue their tests then failure is acceptable .. but if it was just a political decision and would not happen again then I would be disappointed ... already we have wasted enough time.

I cannot see how the missile was a "catostrophic failure" considering that you can see the rocket entering the upper stages of the atmosphere. So if it truly broke up it would mean it broke up in space? Seems like a ploy for Iran to release more data on the launch.

But either way this is more propaganda use than scientific testing. Even the IRGC head said that the Simorgh was ready for launch for over a year and the administration didn't approve the launch.

As long as JPOA exists I can't see Iran having a meaningful space program.

Did anyone notice the solid rocket engine kick in after a few seconds of flight?

In suborbital tests they mount self destruction system to avoid any damages in re entry !

This is probably the case ...

In operational fase we can judge how successful this rocket is ...

Iran wouldn't self destruct to avoid damages as most of these missiles are launched so that anything re-entering the atmosphere that doesn't burn up on rentery, lands in the ocean.

Furthermore, self destructing a rocket in space is an irresponsible act by Iran as that adds to the already large space debris field around earth.

According to the NYT article, this Simorgh was a photocopy of the DPRK Unha rocket that fat Kim has been firing recently. Does not sound right.

Someone should compare this Simorgh to the DPRK Unha.

We already did ...

There are huge differences between simorgh and unha ... NYT can suck dick !

Bro ... In sub orbital flights debris won't stay in space !!!

Simorgh launched 7 years late, more of a propaganda showing at this point. But at least it has been launched.

However, it seems SLV development is not a serious priority by Iran. A country backed effort should yield faster results than Simorgh which should have been launched 7 years ago. Makes you wonder if it is due to lack of funding or technological bottlenecks that are hard to overcome.

At this point Iran is probably focused on other more important areas of its defense/military rather than sending tiny research satellites into space for a few years.

Why does

Don't take US msm for it's word. Most of the time they disseminate misinformation.
