Iran sports thread

a gold medal and 2 silver medals by our brave markswomen .

inshaallah our women will catch more medals than our men :D

i'm so proud of our women athletes !!

we'll have the chance to catch many more medals today

No reason to be cheerful yet. Myanmar, N.Korea, Kazakhstan and even Mongolia are ahead of us in the tally. That's pretty pathetic so far.

The point is that , No one expected winning medals in shooting especially by women .

Iran can fight for 4th place which will be a good result .

Under the circumstances, 4th place is the best Iran can hope for. I just wish the circumstances were different so we could aim higher as a nation. Hopefully one day.

Before the revolution we were way better in sports ( almost every field ) .

In 1970's we got the 2nd place in Asian Games .

We were champion in Asian football cups 3 straight times and that has not happened once in the last 40 years .

We were better at everything back then. Unfortunately half of our population was still illiterate back then. Had things continued on the same path, we'd be slightly less developed than South Korea, but very close. We were having GDP growths of around 20 percentage points all throughout the 70's and the money was being used to kick start industry around the country. All the major companies still in operation today were from back then. The illiterate and poor population that we had didn't understand any of those things of course. Try explaining economics to a person that can't even write his name on a piece of paper. Half the nation was like that. The communists that were present in the country in large numbers back then didn't help things much either. They took advantage of people's stupidity first and akhoonds did the rest.

Things could have been much different if we didn't have that uneducated half back then. If you look at the poor in South Korea and China from those times, you can see that they were literate for the most part and understand the basics of nation hood and governance.

2 more Bronze medals for Iran .

We have chance to win 3 Gold medals in Wushu today which can be a boost in raking + Mohsen Shadi in Rowing .

we were not better at everything . in fact we were worse at everything . the point is the others in Asia were even worse than us , just look at our team back then when they compete with European . now the other teams in Asia catching up and we in many fields are mismanaging our resources
