Iranian Politicians are not involved in their military decisions. These decisions come Qum.

It is not dependent on Rohani.

No one is having problem with the relation to any country including IRAN its the pace with which they are racing is questionable .... we need to have a good relations with Iran there is no question about it but for this we need to first build foundations in civilian an political sectors .... not in defence production sector ....

Having joint exercises or training is one thing but arming a country who was threatening Pakistan till the first quarter of this year with war is altogether a different level of insanity

People need to learn from the history of Pakistan and Russia relationship; we are trying mend our relationship with them from 2003-2004, but till now we have achieve only a certain level of relationship which could not be termed Ideal.

Lesson: RELATIONSHIP NEED TIME TO GROW SPECIALLY IN DIPLOMATIC WORLD

We first need to have answer very basic questions

1- IRGC and their theocratic institutions on board in this venture ???

We need to understand this same Gen. threat Pakistan with war at the time when a high level delegation of Iranian officials headed by their foreign minister was visiting Pakistan

2- Is this a decision of the current Government of President Rohani or its a collective state decision..??

3- Will this decision be followed as a consistent policy of the state no matter which government forms after the President Rohani government

There are many question which till now are unanswered so we (both PAKISTAN and IRAN) need to built mutual trust first.

It is not the first time for these types developments Pakistan and Iran are cooperating on many sectors. The News of Iran Pakistan cooperation are not long lived or trolled on PDF buy relation is getting stronger.

You are not misinformed. We might go to war with Iran tomorrow. There are no permanent allies. Taliban were USA allies and Now both are at war. Taliban were enemies of Iran but now that are allies. World is a changing place. No one knows about the future. Like UAE was once Pakistani best friend now there is a balance in UAE between India and Pakistan. Alliance change but what ever one looks at is current state.

I would say let the Iranian government feel the heat. Pay lip service but do not do anything to help them or ease their problems. Don't do anything beyond a transaction. For the love of God, don't enter into any defense agreement with at any level.


They were singing canary songs with Indians not too long ago. They behaved as a potential threat once, they can do so again.

Iran is also trying India to avoid cutting oil imports from Iran otherwise they can get closer to Pakistan, every one playing its own game.

What real def manufacturing can Iran contribute to Pakistan's def industries?? we r really, way ahead of them.

I guess they may build certain equipment under licence from Pakistan Def companies for themselves, other then that i dont see much.

Anyway lets see.

It seems that the Iranians want to find some way out incase Europeans stop supporting the Nuclear deal. This is the reason Russia has forced the Iranians to reconsider Pakistan and negotiate the differences. The Iranians would also like China to step in if India backs out form the oil and Chabahar deals.

Here are some interesting defence manufacturing solutions that Pakistan may be looking upon:
1) Mercedes-Benz Actros............Heavy Trucks for CPEC transportation.
2) IR-140 ....................50 seat Turbo Prop.
3) Iranian Helicopter Support facility, ................
4) Engines for AH-1 Cobra..... Licence built as well as iranian copies.
5) Aircraft engines ...........Licence built for F-5 as well as iranian copies.
6) Stealth UCAV ............. Iranian copy of the US drone.
7) Naval Platforms ...........600 ton submarine.

SAMs that Iran produces are reversed engineered Russian or Chinese hence Pakistan might not go for these.

Produce AH-1 jointly.

May be some other joint venture using licence manufactured or Iranian engines

There are many question which till now are unanswered so we (both PAKISTAN and IRAN) need to built mutual trust first.

They are racing to save themself from a similar situation of post Shah era. Moreover they are fearing that US or its Allies might attack Iran if a peace deal or any other agreement is formed between Saudia and Yemen.

TEHRAN: Iranian top military commander said Tuesday that Iran and Pakistan are seeking to jointly manufacture defence equipment, Press TV reported.



Major General Mohammad Baqeri, chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, made the remarks following a meeting with Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Iran and Pakistan are working to jointly make defence products and present them as a joint achievement of the Muslim nations, Baqeri was quoted as saying.

In the meeting, Hussain and Baqeri underlined the importance of the Tehran-Islamabad ties in different areas, particularly in the defence sector.

On Tuesday, Baqeri also held a meeting with Chief of Pakistani Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.

During the talks, the two sides discussed topics including military education, pilot training, military drills and contacts between the two countries' defence industries, he added.

On Monday, the Iranian top commander blasted the United States for seeking insecurity in the Middle East and is against the restoration of peace to this region.

"America tops the list of countries that seek to create insecurity in the region and is against the restoration of security to the region," Baqeri said.

Baqeri arrived in Islamabad Monday for an official visit at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Yupx a couple of years back they hacked and grounded a US Sentinel drone and reversed engineer them, would be good if we buy a squadron or 2
