Iran’s President-elect Hassan Rouhani has described the expansion of bilateral relations with China as one of the priorities of his future administration.

“The promotion of ties with China in all fields is one of the main priorities of the future administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Rouhani said in a message to China’s President Xi Jinping on Wednesday.

Referring to the age-old relations between Iran and China, the Iranian president-elect said the commonalities between the two countries as well as mutual trust have always paved the way for strengthening bilateral ties.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said on June 18 that Beijing would “seize the opportunity” created following Rouhani’s victory to further boost cooperation with the next Iranian administration.

Rouhani emerged victorious in the presidential election of June 14, which was marked by a high voter turnout, winning 50.7 percent of a total of 36,704,156 ballots counted.

The voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent, according to Iran’s Interior Ministry.

Nearly 50.5 million Iranians, including more than 1.6 million first-time voters, were eligible to participate in the presidential, and City and Village Islamic Council elections.

Rouhani currently represents Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in the Supreme National Security Council and is also a member of the Expediency Council and the Assembly of Experts. He is the director of the Expediency Council's Center for Strategic Research, as well.

Iran, China should boost security cooperation: Iranian minister

Iran’s Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar has stressed the expansion of security cooperation with China, saying Tehran and Beijing attach great significance to security and stability in the region.

Heading a delegation, the Iranian minister has travelled to China for an official four-day visit. He arrived in the capital, Beijing, on Thursday.

“Iran and China enjoy very good and longstanding relations and cooperate with each other in different fields, including economic, political and security areas,” Mohammad-Najjar said on Thursday upon arrival in Beijing.

Pointing to an earlier visit by a Chinese delegation to Iran and the inking of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), he said the visit laid the groundwork for the signing of a security deal, which would be concluded after a meeting with Chinese Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun.

“Iran and China need to strengthen their relations in different areas, including in the fight against organized crime and drug smuggling, as well as security cooperation between both countries’ police,” he stressed, adding that the new deal to be signed will be a turning point in security cooperation between the two countries.

He also expressed hope that the Iranian delegation’s visit would be a prelude to the further development of bilateral relations in line with maintaining regional stability and security.

He's also said he's not gonna take a step back in iran's nuclear program , do you believe that too? I personally don't think so , I think his first term he's gonna wait for iran to suck a$$ , then he's gonna jump in and rescue iran by negotiating with the west , single handedly
