Iran's Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar has urged vigilance against plots aimed at damaging the country's amicable ties with Pakistan, underlining plans by the two nations to sign a security agreement in a near future, Press TV reports.

Iranian and Pakistani officials are drawing up the security agreement and will sign it soon, said Mohammad-Najjar in a joint press conference with his Pakistani counterpart Rehman Malik in Islamabad on Wednesday.

He added that common enemies seek to inflict damage on cordial relations between Iran and Pakistan, stressing the two countries will not permit foreign powers to take any action against Tehran and Islamabad.

The Iranian minister noted that a variety of issues, including security cooperation, campaign against smuggling of human beings and narcotics, fight against money laundering and organized crimes, were discussed with his Pakistani counterpart.

Terrorists will never be allowed to use the Pakistani territory to launch an attack on neighboring countries, he pointed out.

Mohammad-Najjar also pointed to cultural, historical, religious and geographical commonalties between the two countries and stated that Tehran and Islamabad agreed to promote bilateral cooperation in all fields.

The Pakistani minister, for his part, said his country is resolute to fight against terrorism because it has killed many innocent people.

He lauded positive bilateral cooperation on border security and anti-terrorism war, saying both countries are determined to expand consolidated relations.

The Iranian interior minister arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday at the head of a high-ranking delegation. He held talks with Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari on key regional and international developments.

He is scheduled to exchange views with Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and visit flood-hit areas on Thursday.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has so far sent two relief aid convoys to the flood-stricken people of Pakistan via land and is set to dispatch its third shipment of humanitarian relief by air to the port city of Karachi.

Pakistani officials say more than 350 people have been killed and over 8 million have been affected by devastating monsoon rains in the south of the country.

Two million Pakistanis have also fallen sick from waterborne diseases in the deluged areas
