"Iran oil output to hit 4.7 mbpd soon"

image_650_365.jpg

Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said Iran will raise its oil recovery to 4.7 million barrels per day 'in the near future' and unveil its new Iran Petroleum Contract (IPC) in the month which begins on August 23, 2015.

He made the remarks on Monday in a meeting with a delegation of German state officials and executives of industries and businesses headed by Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel on their visit to Tehran, Press TV reported.

"Iran has the world's biggest hydrocarbon reserves and deems itself responsible for global energy security," Zanganeh said.

"Iran's gas production will exceed 1,000 million cubic meters per day in the next three days. Moreover, oil production is expected to reach 4.7 mbpd in the near future," he added.

Iran also plans to restore its oil production which was cut by half due to intensified Western sanctions. To achieve that goal, Iran has lined up new contracts to attract foreign investors to its ageing oilfields.

Zanganeh said he hoped German companies would participate in Iran's oil industry projects once the new contracts are announced.

"Investment in the petrochemical sector, refining, storage, energy use optimization and development of new energies are among the projects open to German companies," he said.

Gabriel is heading a delegation which includes executives from Linde, an industrial gas and engineering company, and Europe's biggest engineering company, Siemens, as well as representatives of other major German firms.

In a joint news conference with Zanganeh, Gabriel said it was time for Iran and Germany to "open a new chapter in economic ties", said the Oil Ministry website, Shana.

"Some people believe the effects of the nuclear agreement will not be tangible but we want to prove this accord will kick start economic cooperation and have positive impact on the lives and prosperity of the people and lead to a boom in business," it quoted Gabriel as saying.

Zanganeh said Iran is also counting on small- and medium-size German companies to implement the projects.

"For contracting and EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) contractors, it is in the best interests of the German companies to register in Iran and work along with Iranian firms," he said.

"Iran has a very valuable educated workforce which Germany companies can use," he added.

Zanganeh said the most immediate hurdle to bilateral trade was banking and insurance restrictions created by the sanctions.

"We hope this will be resolved as soon as possible to facilitate the immediate cooperation of the companies."

The minister said Iran and Germany will soon hold their first joint trade meeting after a 14-year lapse.

German officials foresee bilateral trade, which totaled €2.7 billion ($3 billion) in 2014, expanding to €6 billion or €7 billion in 2016.

"Iran to build 20K km railway by 2021"

TEHRAN, May 17 (MNA) – Iran’s minister recounts the administration’s plans to extend rail transportation by 2021.
Visiting the third international exhibition of transportation and rail industry (Iran Rail Expo 2015) Iran's Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi referred to plans in which Iran’s railway lines are to reach 20,000 kilometers by 2021 having in operation 20,000 freight wagons, 22,000 passenger carriages, and 750 locomotives.

Yesterday on the sidelines of the Tehran Expo, he restated the plan to have quadruple tracks around metropolitan cities and double tracks in other areas, enjoying advanced systems of monitoring and controlling train movements by 2021.

Further he added the annual investment required on rail transportation is 3 to 3.5 million dollars that needs private section participation along with state money.

Showing content with the Expo, he said that fortunately the Expo has been warmly welcomed by international companies hosting 150 domestic and 20 foreign manufacturers this year.

Akhoundi pointed to the forum of ECO railroad chiefs, along with the Expo that can encourage more efforts to increase the share of rail links in transportation systems that connect the Organization’s member states.

ECO comprises seven Asian and three Eurasian countries. Member states are Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The main purpose of the Organization - that was set up in 1985 – is to promote economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the member states.

Meanwhile, Akhoundi described the inauguration of a new railway line between Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan as an important event for all the countries of the region.

“This project will help the prosperity of trade and transit in the eastern side of the Caspian Sea,” the Iranian minister said. “It will also facilitate transporting goods in the north-south corridor and will also help provide a better transit connection between Central Asia and Europe.”

Touching upon investment on rail transportation, he further added that member states should make efforts to attract investments to expand their joint rail systems; what he said will lead to a broader cooperation over development projects.

The third international exhibition of transportation and rail industry (Iran Rail Expo 2015) is underway at Tehran’s International Permanent Fairground and will run through May 20.

The exhibition sees 80 percent increase in number of participating companies and 100 percent enlargement of the area allocated, officials said on Sunday.

It is scheduled to have workshops on the sidelines of the exhibition on recent technological breakthroughs in the field and also latest railroad-industry achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The four-day event has brought together organizations, institutions, and foreign as well as domestic companies specializing in railroad technology.

The exhibition displays passenger rail industry and services in urban, suburban and freight sectors, different types of wagons, propulsion, maneuver, and generator wagons, electric and diesel locomotives, spare parts for buses, freight cars, transport companies, rail companies providing after-sales services, maintenance services, and insurance services.

Companies active in railroad industries from Germany, Turkey, China, Austria, Spain, Malaysia, India, Hong Kong, and Italy have put to public display their products and services. The exhibition seeks to provide information to participants and the interested public on the latest technologies and achievements in railroad transportation and related industries, domestic industries, exports, Iranian capabilities, handling sanctions, and indigenization of railroad technology.

That would be amazing. That is why they bought tons of rails from India. The Gorgan, Sari, Rasht, Tabriz route should be an amazing trip.

"Iran to build most specialized nuclear hospital in Western Asia"

Ali_Akbar_Salehi.jpg

Iran said on Sunday that it will soon start the construction of a specialized nuclear medicine hospital which will be the first of its kind in the Middle East.

Ali-Akbar Salehi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), said the hospital will be constructed in capital Tehran.

“It will be a very vast project and will be equipped with facilities that will make it a unique hospital in the Middle East,” Salehi told reporters.

“Once operational, Iranian patients suffering from rare diseases will no longer have to travel abroad to seek treatment. Besides, Iran will have a new attraction in terms of medical tourism,” he was quoted as saying by Fars news agency.

Salehi further described the planned hospital as one of AEOI’s most important projects, adding that the Organization has already provided a certain amount of the total budget of about $35 million.

Iran’s nuclear chief added that the hospital will be equipped with a variety of machines to provide radiotherapy services to patients and that different types of centrifuges will also be installed in the complex.

He emphasized that the main objective of the project will be to promote the application of radioisotopes in Iran and also to enhance the standards of radiotherapy equipment across the country.

Iran already has 150 nuclear medicine centers across the country that provide services to over one million patients each year. Iranian officials had previously repeatedly emphasized that using nuclear technology for medical purposes is a key objective of the country’s nuclear energy program.

"Iran builds world’s largest methanol plant"

Thu Feb 26, 2015

Iran is building the world’s largest methanol plant which the country is touting as a rival to US shale gas.

The Kaveh mega methanol project, being implemented in the Persian Gulf city of Bandar Dayyer, is 70 percent complete, deputy head of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Mohammad Hassan Payvandi says.

The facility is being built to produce two million tons of methanol per annum or 7,000 tons per day.

Peyvandi says the first phase of the plant will start production around August, with full operation expected in 2016, which is four years behind the initial schedule.

Switzerland’s Casale SA and Iran’s Petrochemical Industries Design and Engineering Company (PIDEC) have been cited as providing engineering, license and procurement services.

Rising demand

Iran hopes to raise its methanol production capacity to 25 million tons per year in the next five years and establish itself as the biggest supplier of the product.

Methanol has been tipped as alternative fuel in ships. In 2014, Japan and South Korea won the first orders to build vessels powered by methanol.

The fuel is already used in light aircraft and racing cars and its global demand is rising. Beside being a green fuel, it is cheaper and more abundant than diesel.

It is also preferable to LNG. Unlike liquefied natural gas which has to be super-cooled 162 degrees Celsius below zero for transportation, methanol can be stored in ordinary tanks.

Petrochemical products

Peyvandi predicts that Iran’s petrochemical products would challenge US shale gas for domination of the European market.

“The US needs to create transportation capacities and establish petrochemical units in Europe in order to export its shale gas products. It would be much cheaper for the European countries to import from Iran instead of the United States,” Peyvandi has said.

The official says Iran’s access to the Persian Gulf and its proximity to Indian and Chinese markets make the country an ideal source of energy.

The country has proposed the establishment of a petrochemical body within OPEC in order to adjust the market.

Iran currently has a capacity to produce 60 million tons of petrochemicals, which is expected to expand to 180 million tons next year as a number of projects are coming on stream.

Officials say the country is on course to earn as much as $70 billion per year once the projects start production.

But financial constraints are undercutting progress. On Tuesday, parliament agreed to withdraw nearly $5 billion from the National Development Fund of Iran -- the country's safekeeping for rainy days – to finance its oil and gas projects.

Iran plans to establish a 5G innovation center aimed at patenting inventions.

Head of Information and Communication Technology Institute (ICTI), Mohammad Khansari, told that planning for production and distribution of the 5G technology has started which is based on values pertaining to Iranian-Islamic culture.

5G Technology which stands for 5th Generation Mobile technology is the next generation of mobile communication technology capable of handling our ever-increasing demand for mobile data and providing connectivity for future technologies such as the Internet of Things.

“Patenting inventions in the field of G5 technology, obtaining intellectual property rights, and providing a clear and transparent atmosphere for research are among our future plans for the G5 center,” said Khansari.

“Instead of waiting for the G5 technology to arrive in the country and then indigenizing it, we are planning to fall into steps with the world and have our own domestic version of the G5; to reach this end, we have on our agenda to call for international cooperation in the field of G5 technology,” he said.

Stressing that the ICTI has already begun international interactions and has plans for research and development cooperation with a number of companies, Khansari added that the country is not merely seeking to produce articles on G5 but actually plans to patent inventions in this field.

Khansari predicted that the standardization process for the G5 technology will begin in 2016 and it will be ready for public distribution by 2020.

They are late. 5G has already been developed. Samsung is in test deployment phase and Huawei has built its first prototype using Multi-FPGA's platforms as far as I know and is testing performance. When Standardization begins it means the companies have already succeeded in their research and prototypes and are ready to influence the standard through their research. Khansari doesn't know what he is talking about or it is mere propaganda for his position. He better contact 17 Iranians that are working in highest level of 5G in Huawei Ottawa and the others in other major companies to know what stage they are at. It would take them 4 years at least to develop a technology to compete with either Samsung version or Huawei version. Despite Huawei vast resources they are very wary of Samsung's technology. Now assume this latecomer wants to do it in a year or so. It is not possible and they are too late. It is a good idea to keep contact and be ready for next phase of development but affecting standardization is too late now.

Iran produces 15.6M tons of petrochemicals in 4 months

TEHRAN August 01 (Shana)--Iranian petrochemical plants processed more than 15.5 million tons of petrochemicals during the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year which started on March 21.

Ali Mohammad Bosaqzadeh, director of production control at National Petrochemical Company (NPC), said the figure shows a mere 4% rise year-on-year.
He said production from petrochemical plants at Pars Special Economic Energy Zones (PSEEZ) rose by 8% during the period from a year ago while output from the plants at Mahshahr and other regions rose by 2% and 4% respectively.

There are more than 60 half-finished petrochemical projects in Iran waiting to be funded for completion, he said, adding that the projects have progressed from 10 to 90%.

Once completed, the projects will add 60 million tons of petrochemical annually to Iran's production capacity which stands at 60mt currently.

The projects are to be fed by the natural gas recovered from various phases of the supergiant South Pars gas filed which Iran shares with Persian Gulf Arab state Qatar.

Iran to build 9 nuclear power plants by 2025

ILNA: in accordance with the 20-year perspective document, atomic energy should account for 10 percent of Iran's electricity production, which means nine more power plants are needed by then, said Behrooz Kamalvandi, spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.

He said Iran is expected to turn into an exporter of engineering services for power plant building in 30 years.

Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanai in January said Iran was planning to start the construction of the Bushehr-2 nuclear power plant in March.

In November 2014, Tehran and Moscow struck a deal to build eight more nuclear power plants in Iran.

Russia has already built a power plant in Bushehr. The agreement for Bushehr nuclear power plant was finalized in 1995, but the project was delayed several times due to a number of technical and financial issues.

Iran's only nuclear power plant - Bushehr, which was inaugurated in September of 2013, has a capacity of producing 1,000 megawatts of electricity.
