Iran, Azerbaijan to Jointly Produce Military Equipment

Iran and the Azerbaijan Republic have agreed to work together to jointly produce military equipment.

The agreement was reached in a meeting between Iranian Defence Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami and Azeri Defence Industry Minister Yavar Jamalov.

During the Wednesday talks in Baku, the two sides exchanged views on mutual cooperation on the joint manufacture of military equipment, technical-military issues and using cutting-edge technologies, according to the Persian-language Fars News Agency.

The meeting was part of the itinerary of the Iranian defence chief, who has travelled to Baku heading a military delegation. He has already sat down with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev and his opposite number Zakir Hasanov.

After his meeting with Hasanov, Hatami described his meeting with Azeri officials in particular President Aliyev as ‘very good’, saying that both countries’ leaders attach special importance to high-level relations between Tehran and Baku.

The top Iranian general is scheduled to visit Azeri military and defence centres on Thursday

This is a loss and humiliation for Iran. Did Rouhani propose this? Why should we cooperate with a country that dreams of annexing our Iranian Azerbaijan or "South Azerbaijan" as they call it. talk is cheap so what are you fretting for? It is actually Azerbaijan that is afraid of Iran. Why do you think they've collaborated with Israel with regards to drones and oil sales? Obv they and ISrael both feel a threat from Iran(just like soft GCC countries)so tbh Azerbaijan's "threat" to Iran is more of a bluff. But this coproduction of weapons is interesting though...not sure exactly what Iran gets out of it.Iran probably uses military cooperation to penetrate military culture and environment of Azerbaijan, which Iran hasnt done in many places.

Headline is questionable. The Azeri press reports, "During the meeting, the sides held an extensive exchange of views on the prospects for the development of cooperation in the military, military-technical, military-medical and military-educational spheres, organization of mutual visits of expert groups, and other issues of common interest."

Nothing about actual co-production of military equipment. So this appears to be the mullahs' idea, one the Azeris may not have been very receptive to.

If Iran promoted separationism in Pakistans Baluchi population and wanted to annex all the lands that Baluchi people inhabitate, would you want Pakistan to cooperate with Iran?

Well wouldnt it be the other way? Considering most Baloch (like me) live in Pakistan...

Anyways , If Iran wanted that and later approached Pakistan as a friend.. I wouldnt have issues with it.

Do you know Saddam supported insurgency in Balochistan ? Iraqi consulate was raided and large cache of arms recovered?

And today Pak has beautiful ties with Iraq? Selling them APCs,Trainer planes and training Iraqi troops and Special Forces?

I dont like the fact that Rouhani is too friendly with all nations. Especially with countries that openly support Irans enemies. This might blow back on us one day.
