Iran attempts to steal US Navy unmanned naval vessel, then departs after US response

How humiliating, forced to let go a captured asset.

They could/should have just sunk it after taking a look, or, yanked it out of the water and carried it onboard.

Humiliating? Iran was the first Muslim country to attack US forces causing them to retreat personnel to bases in the west of Iraq...with no reply. How the mighty have fallen, US used to act a lot tougher towards Muslims trying to put their hands on US assets...now they just cry about it on social media and do absolutely nothing manly about it. Nothing would have happened had Iran not let go.

We look forward to Iran's attempt on an aircraft carrier. The real one, not the fake you built.

Piece of piss to be honest, your navy will be the first to go in a war of that magnitude.

Why did they let it go then ? Pretty sure there would have lots to reverse engineer there + a huge propaganda victory.. you would have paraded that bit of kit

Let it go just like that, eh ? .. how benevolent.

Well, judging by the images of this drone, the Iranians could definitely muster a better design and technology. Even the Americans admit it is a basic commercially available drone. They were lugging it for 4 hours with nothing done to them, so it was Iran who was calling the shots and decided it had its fun and didnt get the desired response from the Binary Navy.

Yep just like that, like how we shoot down the drones when we wish.

You just can't see the answer?

Hilarious that Iran stole a super power's unmanned vessel and got caught red handed.

We have stolen enough and we get caught red handed every time. Doesnt stop Iran from acting and getting the job done. Pakistan could never do what we do by the way, so I'm definitely sensing a lot of salt in your comment lol

It was a malfunctioned wandering vessel, based on the law of sea IRGC navy had to release it.

A "wandering" military surveillance (+ potentially offensive) asset of an enemy country but not in your territorial waters ?

A low key encounter, then. Regulation maritime interception ?

I'll still bet they tried to steal it but were thwarted :D

Try saving your country and get some istiqlal, we can help you with that by the way. People die in wars, seems you suffer from Al-Wahn.

Show us the "thwarting".

Piracy is a universal crime so it’s definitely unlawful.

Article 105 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea grants universal jurisdiction for any state to seize the ship and make arrests. The boarding state could then take jurisdiction over prosecution, regardless of the flag of the ship or citizenship of the pirates.

Most likely the thing was looking to be detected as a way to check Iranian maritime security.

Got past, but then got caught
