Iran has attacked a US drone a week ago but the drone is intact. Fox news said the drone has been doing surveillance 16 miles away from the Iranian border ( Then it would be over international waters but very close to the Iranian waters)

It's on CNN and it's official.

Waiting to see how they use it as a propaganda means to show how 'evil' and dangerous Iran is for protecting its borders.

Last time,they also claimed RQ-170 never entered Iran,but it was revealed later that it was actually 200 kilometers inside Iran.
Maybe American officials has different definitions on air space,borders and international waters.lol

Until we hear Iranian side, too many unknowns. Drone could have been in Iran's territory, or it could have been near, but shots fired as a warning, not at the drone. I'm pretty sure if two fighters would have wanted drone destroyed, they could have done it.

According to Pentagon it conducted a classified mission 30 kilometers off the Iranian coast. In that case it would be interesting to know where it was intercepted to gain insight into what kind of intelligence they wanted to gain. Or maybe the americans are trying to say something?

Or maybe they didn't want to take the drone down at first place?just giving warning to it not to come closer to border?It's a routine in military world,if you are familiar with that.

Why not choosing the wiser option?
Iran is not planning to give US any more excuses to their Iranophobia. There was no need to take down the drone,not that they couldn't do it.It's not very hard to shoot a big slow unarmed flying object in the sky.

Maybe they tried to shoot the insensitive parts of the drone, so that it will malfunction and come down.

What exactly US can monitor by flying drones over border areas of Iran adjoins Afghanistan?

Can any Iranian explain what military or strategic bases are there on Iranian side of border?

Pretty embarrassing alright. They should just go back to resorting to hacking if they can't hit it with multiple missiles against something that can hardly do any maneuvering.

If Iran had shot it down,you would cry us a river that: Look! Iran shot our drone,how 'evil' they are.

Now that we refused to shoot it down (Shooting that big slow flying object is the easiest task for any air force),you are making fun of it that : Look! they can't shoot down a drone!

We simply didn't want to take the drone out,to avoid further escalation of currently high tension,just a warning to you that never send these toys near our borders.

Based on the limited information we have and seeing how the conflict could have escalated drastically had it been shot down I think the most rational descision on the iranian part would be one that ensured the drone made it home in one piece. And it did.
