Iran, Afghanistan, India sign 3-way transit accord bypassing Pakistan

Frankly I am bothered more by the ignorance of some of the posters and also the Pakistani policy makers than anything else.
Remember we live in a neighbourhood so cant really ignore Pakistan as such, if we are to really succeed then we need to succeed as a whole.
That's your fallacy and you will learn the way we did.Pakistanis are weird people as they will be oppose your growth even if that doesn't favor them.

After decades we came to senses and now trying alternate route foe success like connection with ASEAN via road then port in pacific for trade with American continent.

This is our alternate route for middle east and central Asia. If succeed we will connect it with Russia/Europe.

We wasted so much time for Pakistan to come to its senses and keep rivalry separate from economy but nothing happened and lots of time was wasted while Chinese grew exceptionally. Now it's our time with or without Pakistan south Asia must prosper.

Plz keep your randi rona to yourself, Indian were also too emotional like you but they got thier lesson and started Chah Bahar, learn from ur masters at least.. we will trade with Afghanistan through Torkham, with Iran through Chahbahar, India does not exist on our trade map and will never exist until they handover Kashmir to Kashmirs via free and fair plebiscite..

That is the kind of mentality that will turn Pakistan into another North Korea I am afraid. Stop patronizing, instead of earning on the amount of goods that would be have passed via Pakistan, now it's Iran that will reap benefits, guess who is the loser ?

Pakistan with all its political issues with India should keep the economic dimension separate, the same way China and India does. The region need economic integration and it would be silly for Pakistan to put all its eggs in the CPEC basket.

I for one would prefer that all the available routes be used for commerce, including those of Pakistan. Bypassing Pakistan is lose-lose situation for the region in the bigger scheme of things. Hope that policy makers in Pakistan come to their senses rather than later.
Very balance thought. This post deserve positive rating from MOD.

You win :)

Pakistan should reach out to Iran and improve relations with it so that they do not treat us as rivals. There are dangerous trends however, like Yadav being present in Iran... I think Iran sees Pakistan as an unstable nation and a US ally and thus negatively.

Now you are trollin me ;)

Whining ? I am trying to educate you so that you can come out of your shell, unless you want to be left alone while the rest of Asia moves.

India is rest of Asia? Enjoy Chah Bahar, let us be alone

Actually, not so long ago middle class Pakistanis were better educated than Afghans. The trend seems to have reversed (at least on PDF) . Afghans seem much better aware of the reality of the world around them , this bodes well for the future of Afghanistan.

@A-Team I have concluded that there is no chance for generation or two for Af-Pak to agree and work togther. Without going into the reasons what matters is where we are today. There is simply too much bad blood and this can only be resolved by generational change or by bloody war that "blood lets" that ill feeling like Europe did in WW2.

So where are we left? I think we are going to have live with what we see today. The only hope is to learn to manage enemity. I wish it was differant but I can't see way forward. I think the border needs sealing. I have gone from being the dove here to the hawk with regards to Afghanistan.

With regards to Iran my views have also shifted. I was described as a Iran apologist. Not being religious I never looked at Iran from the sectarian prism but more based on geographic functionality. However I have concluded that Iran/Pak are not going to go anywhee either for generation or two. Certainly not under the Mullah regime there with their bone headed policies which have arrested a future star of the east into sanctioned oblivion. Imagine a bright people, all the oil in the world lagging behind Turkey?

I do not think Pakistan is going to be North Korea. Far from it. The sponsor behind Chah Bahar is India and I wish the best for it. However that does not even by the minutest deflect on success or otherwise of Gwadar for the very simple fact that China is behind it. This is all about economic power and trade.

As much as India dwarfs Pakistan on this front ( Pak is six times smaller) China dwarfs India (both are same size) and if you think a sail blowing on Chinese wind is going struggle against the Indian vessel your badly wrong.

Hell even right now who is dominating Central Asia and Iran? Chinese trade and influence far exceeds India's. By comparison India is one bit player. In addition I am not convinced that India will be able to overcome Israel's and America's misgivings about anything that might benefit the Iranian economy. As we speak every American Presidential candidate is tripping over themselves in order to be percieved as "strong on Iran".

At best Chah Bahar might offer Afghanistan 100% access to the sea without having to depend on Pakistan. That is hardly going to destroy Pakistan in particular if that country can harvest the CPEC and Chinese trade fully. Between Chinese and Afghan trade. The choice is a no brainer.

And as a asides let me make this clear. If looked at objectively Afghanistan is where it is today entirely thanks to itself. Ditto Pakistan. Blaming others is sport of the immature. The fact is Pakistan get's flack from Afghans for intervention. Well that sounds kind of unfair. Why?

Well first and foremost every country that had a erect pe*nis had a go at Afghanistan. Russia, Iran,. USA, India, China, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Saudia Arabia. You name it. The only differance is some got full on penetration like Russia and USA whereas others only got hand jobs. That I am afraid is the reality and you my friend should know this. Have you forgotten who refused to recognize Pakistan in 1947? Not recognizing a country is not good way to begin relations with a neighbour.

Than Afghnistan was happy with the British soldiers sitting on the Durand Line but as soon as they left in 1947 Afghans turned on Pakistan. Why? Was "Gora Sahib power" to be respected? Well you know what happened during President Ayub Khan;s rule. Fighting broke off betwen Af-Pak forces with the former getting thrashed (Ayub was ethnic Pashtun. I mention this because Afghan's love turning Pak into a ethnic riven state overlooking their own cracked polity along the Tajik, Hazara, Turkmen, Uzbek, Pashtun divides)

We move further. Afghans started to dance with Russians. We know that led to full on Soviet invasion and mass destruction of Afghanistan by Russians. Was that Pakistan's fault. The fact is Pakistan has intervened in Afganistan but less so than other players yet Afghan angst is only focussed on Pakistan. It is like victim of gang rape can only recollect one abuser and get's convenient memory loss with the rest.

And I want you to imagine that Pakistan had stayed within the British Indian borders in 1947. Do you really, really think New Delhi would have given Afghanistan the whole of KPK or renounced the Durand Line? Are you? I have come across Indian Hindutwa warriors who claim "cultural India or historical India" as far west as Kandahar/Kabul. Ditto with Balochistan.

All the Indian reaction you see here is direct consequence over the "b*tching hurt" they feel over what they regard was their right. The handing over to them of all of what the British had built in South Asia over 200 year period. That they did not get the western portion of the British gifted "British Raj" is what drives Indians.

Here a trip down memory lane. It was USA that was behind the Afghan Jihad. It was Russia behind the Soviet invasion of Afganistan. Read the "Bear Trap" or "Operation Cyclone". Pakistan was just third party conduit.

sorry to burst your bubbles but india will never be able to bypass pakistan truly if they want access to afghanistan they will have to court pakistan to a certain extent main afghan cities are far closer to pakistani side,Indian ships will also have to go through pakistani waters esp since pakistan has extended it's maritime territory even further lol if anything indians relying on this route this will make indian and afghan trade even more vulnerable and dependant on pakistan esp if pakistan navy become aggressive like china .As much as indians like to tout this strategic partnership with afghanistan -pakistan despite the tensions has always been afghanistan's largest trading partner

Didn't know that Pakistan territory go after 12 nm in sea ?
Grab a decent binocular & Sea, Our Ships violate your fictional territory everyday.

AFGHANI AFGHANI AFGAHI ..... AFGHANI

We should develop more strong ties with Saudi Arabia and close sh@@@t ties with I-RAN.. good for nothing ... after hearing this news, people who still has hopes for I-ran should move to I-ran and everyone knows who these people are... (they will be happy there and can perform their religious things...)
