Inverter air conditioner vs 5 star rated routine ac

Hi,

Anyone has professional idea regarding inverter air conditioner ?

It's efficient in cooling and power saving
But people are saying it'smaintenance is expensive , repairs will cost a bomb

Where regular ac we can Change individual parts , inverter ac is fully automatic controlled by boards which has to be replaced for almost in many faults


Any opinion ..?

replace those parts with military grade type like power resistors and quality capacitors. what i do know when something electronic dont work it usually cheap dried capacitors.

Doesn't quite 'cost like a bomb', but, yes, costlier than regular AC.

I'm using two inverter ACs, primarily use one only, for past one year. No issues till now.

Inverter AC regulates speed depending upon the heat in the room, makes it more power effiicient, in comparison to a regular AC, that runs at a constant speed.

Inverter ACs are power saving compared to 5-star rated ACs, but they are about 20-25% costlier, prices are justified if you use it for at least 8-10 hours a day or more. Inverter ACs also provide continuous even cooling since it doesn't go through the cut-off cycles. And yes, it is controlled by a PCB that is costly, and irreparable, if that burns then the replacement cost will be Rs.12000+.....!! No matter whatever type of AC you buy, look for copper condenser.

Hi, whatever I heard , u have summed up exactly .

My usage will be more than 8 hours per day , 11 x 17 feet room . Metal sheet roof with a false ceiling at 9.25 feet.height.
I only fear that 12,000 replacement part. I heard everything is controlled by it. So whatever problem, will end up spending 12000.

That's my fear.
My initial dilemma was between Blue star vs ToshibhA inverter Ac
Toshiba ac is sold by private personnel , blue star by company dealers
Toshiba is fully imported, more efficient with less noice, more cost, no dealer.
Blue star is made in India , more notice , less efficient , cheaper.

What Ac would you recommend ?

One year is warranty period right ?

Hi yes, even my LG LCD tv is repeatedly on & off before it works, read in blogs that's common due to capacitor problem.

I don't have that much knowledge to change capacitors.
Not impossible but can't do myself.

You mean brand ? Blue star. I guess warranty is for one year only. Used only one summer. It comes with copper radiators. Generally it is considered to be better than those with Aluminum radiators. Those with Aluminum radiators are more susceptible to corrosion, and if there is a leakage, you will have to change the entire set, will set you back by 7-8K. But, copper ones are a little costly.

yh in side the tv their usually two sections one is the power board that supplies power to the tv motherboard and other is of course motherboard. you can use esr meter to check each capacitors and then change them but they must be same volt and farads and you must put new cap matching the polarity on the board.

Blue Star is good, in fact very good. Though I don't own a Blue Star AC, I have seen it operating in my office and in many other offices and shops, etc. I somehow feel that Blue Star ACs throw the coolest air and cools faster among all the ACs, at least the ACs I have used or seen; Hitachi, LG, Panasonic, Carrier, Voltas, Samsung, etc. that I can remember. Maybe my next AC would be a Blue Star. Besides, it's made in India by an Indian company!!

There are several Japanese AC brands available in India; Hitachi, Daikin, O General, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, Panasonic, Sharp.....Carrier & Whirlpool are American brands, LG & Samsung are Korean (LG is better among the two), Blue Star, Voltas, Onida, Godrej, etc. are Indian companies among the reputed brands. Blue Star is the best among the Indian brands, and I would say it is comparable, if not better than most Japanese brands. And you might face service issues with Toshiba, they have low presence in India.

A few more points I would like to mention here:

1. Buy an AC with copper condensing coils and Aluminium radiator fins, avoid Aluminium coils, they suffer leakages and loss of gas, gas filling charges are Rs.2500-3000, and coil replacement charges would be even higher. Some companies use alloys for more efficient cooling, but copper is the best. (Copper is the best for geysers also, like Venus, but AO Smith markets non-copper geysers with cool marketing taglines).

2. Most inverter ACs come with R410A gas/coolant, but still re-confirm once. Old R22 gas will be discontinued after 2020 for environmental reasons, though R22 will have replacements like R417A and R407C, but why take chances. You cannot use R410A in an AC made for R22 gas, as it works at 170% more pressure than the R22 gas.

3. Do not install the outdoor unit under direct sunlight for more efficient cooling.

I have decided to go for Blue star inverter Ac,
With copper condensing coil, R410A gas coolant.
I have to make some plans to bring outdoor unit under shade.

I ll post after I bought one

Like which brand to go..
Last I checked people told me go for Havel regular fan instead of cromptons 5 star bee rated .

Havel regular consume 60watt,
cromptons 5 consume 45, but they air throw will be lesser.

Any suggestions ?

Simple trade-off situation.

You want to end up paying less electricity bill versus ending up with less cooling comfort.

Choice is yours.
