Introducing Indian Water Car Engineer

Hi,

It is a highly EXPLOSIVE mixture of flamable gas with a very high flame temperature under certain conditions and has to be contained in very strong tightly sealed containers not suitable for automobiles---.

With this gas in fuel tank---you would be riding the Hindenburg.

Looking for success. :victory:

Hi,

What happened to the OLD webmaster----. So you are the new owner here!

I also had that in mind but reactivity of fuel was not questioned so i didn't mention it...

I have used oxy acetylene cutting sets and oxy lpg sets in my cos.
People replace acetylene with lpg cylinders in industry because its cheaper(SUBSISIDY ?) . If lpg can be used in cars so can acetlyene.
Safety issues are their ofcourse.
Just googled and acetylene has been used as a energy source since start of the 20th century.
Somebody in 1980 did exactly what this guy has done with his car.

If you have been into welding you will know that there are obvious difference in flame geometry of Acytelene vs Propane.

While temperature wise Acetylene is hotter than Propane the fact is that they were using Propane for cutting incorrectly. The mistake they make is that they are cutting with Propane like they would cut with Acetylene. It turns out "where" the heat is in the propane preheat flame is not where it is with Acetylene
