How much Urdu related to Arabic...I think its just a mixture of Hindi and Iranian language.. Very few Arabic words are in Urdu language...

Not much as per construction of the language itself. Arabic is totally different but knowing Urdu has some additional benifit over bangla.

As a Muslim we must learn Arabic in order to perform our prayer and other religions activities. Urdu use same text as Arabic with exception of few changes. So it's much easier for Urdu speaker to learn Arabic. They have to deal with 1 text whereas BD people deal with 2. Extra burden on Muslim kid if you ask me.

Lastly, all Muslim nation should adopt Arabic as official language in my opinion.

The language " Bangla " was banned from court by Hindu Rajas who adopted Sanskrit over Bengali. After Muslim conquest they reintroduced Bangla, Thus making it the prominent language alongside Farsi.

Most of the Bengali books of Middle Age was commissioned by Sultans not Rajas.

After East India Company Seized power, They strengthen Hindu position in Bangla weakening Muslims by taking Wakf properties mainly because Muslims refused to accept English.

Thus Hindu writers flourished and Bengali Muslims turned into a nation of farmers fishermen etc.

The Bengal Renaissance started by the Hindus in 1800s in the absence of Muslim intellectuals, also benefitted by the establishment of Press in Kolkata.

Muslims of that Era worked hard, very hard to claim Bangla Back. Most of the Bengali Muslim writers of 1900-1947 were trying to reclaim Bengali.

Most of our notable writers were from that era. And Pakistan chose a wrong time to assault on the very foundation that we were trying hard to proclaim.

Bengali Renaissance was more important to you than standing by your country. Pakistan was a fledgling state then, the least you people could have done was stand by it instead of dividing the country on ethnic lines in the start itself. Its a shame really. You couldn't leave your ethnic interests for the country's larger good and even sided with the enemy state in '71 bringing shame to Pakistan. You conveniently ignored Muslims in need of support during the war in favour of Hindu Bengalis who hated Pakistan. Shame

My Late Grandfather never spoke urdu .. he could understand it (he was educated) and yet nobody forced urdu on him?

Im a Balochi speaker and my language is as dear to me as yours is for you.. but when i sit among my fellow countrymen from other ethnic groups.. i dont speak it.. coz they wont understand it.. so we speak urdu .. its like a bridge for us...

None of us are urdu speakers.. probably not even urdu speakers of karachi who themselves come from diverse backgrounds from as far as tamil nadu or Goa.. and yet they speak urdu in public and their own languages among their friends n family..

regional languages are still taught... infact govt education is delievered in local languages depending upon the region/province and nobody has an issue..

Urdu as a common language would have created bridges between east and west.. a bangali CSP officer posted in KPK would have spoken urdu and no bangla or pashto ? or a baloch businessman in dacca could interact with bangalis in a language both understood... and so on..

One of the beauty of Pakistan is it's diversity in languages , landscapes , climate , people and cultures . In total about 70-90 Languages are Spoken in Pakistan . If none of them had any problem with urdu why did bengali's have problem with it ? I am a Pashtun and none of my forefathers were native urdu speakers but i love the language and hold it dear to me . If we had made bengali the national language then 50 other ethnicities would have demanded the same .
