Interceptor missile mission a ‘failure’

See, you are free to do your wishful analysis. I only say that had our test failed, it would not have been declared a success. We had failures in past and they were invriabally declared failure without hiding anything. Even you will find our failed missile videos on you tube unlike some other countries who test some missile on one day declare them successful next day and deploy the them two days later.
Well, pakistanis must themselves make some interceptors before bragging about India's Failures (case is different that failures occurred or not).

  • Recent Interceptor missile test a failure: Report

        • The recent test-firing of the Indian supersonic Interceptor missile, which was part of the Defence Research and Development Organisation's (DRDO) multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence system, was not successful, despite claims to the contrary by the organisation, The Hindu reported, citing informed sources.

The report noted that the Interceptor missile never took off to intercept the modified naval variant of Prithvi missile that was launched from a naval ship and that it simply fell into the sea.

DRDO had earlier tested the Interceptor missile on May 15, which, PTI reported, had successfully "killed" an incoming "enemy" missile mid-air. "The test conducted to validate various parameters of the interceptor in flight mode has been successful," PTI had quoted DRDO sources as saying.

The Hindu, meanwhile, quoted sources as saying, "Post-flight analysis is going on. We do not know whether there was problem in detecting the missile, whether radars tracked it and communicated it to the interceptor," .

The report also recalls failures of the Interceptor missile in April 2015, when the missile fell into the sea seconds after lift-off, and in April 2014, when the Interceptor's warhead failed to explode when it hit the "enemy" missile.

The Interceptor test had evoked concern from India's neighbour Pakistan. Sartaj Aziz, the Adviser to Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Foreign Affairs, was quoted by Radio Pakistan as saying that they wanted to take up the matter at an international level and that Pakistan would "definitely acquire" advanced technology to boost its defences.

Now with reports of the Interceptor's failure, it has to be seen if India would fast-track acquisition of the famed Russian air defence system, S-400, which can neutralise modern and advanced missile targets at a distance of up to 400 km. India is expected to buy up to five units of the missile systems.

Since Ashwin is a Prithvi variant and the only of its kind tested a week back the link is likely talking about Ashwin (but not stating so) , would like to understand how Indian experts are receiving this news below. I mean failures are a part and parcel of such tests but why cover up??
An earlier statement from DRDO
“The test conducted to validate various parameters of the interceptor in flight mode has been successful,”

The interceptor never took off to intercept incoming “enemy” missile, say sources
The interceptor missile mission, which took place on May 15, was a failure despite claims of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to the contrary. The interceptor never took off to intercept the incoming “enemy” missile which merely fell into the Bay of Bengal, informed sources said.

An agency report on May 16 said a modified Prithvi missile was launched on May 15 from a naval ship in the Bay of Bengal and it mimicked the trajectory of a missile coming from an enemy country.

‘Never took off’
Informed sources, however, said the interceptor missile never took off from the island; so no interception took place at all. “Post-flight analysis is going on. We do not know whether there was problem in detecting the missile, whether radars tracked it and communicated it to the interceptor,” said the sources.

The DRDO developed both the Prithvi missile and the interceptor.

2015 mission failed too

In April 2015, a similar mission failed after the interceptor dived into the Bay of Bengal a few seconds after lift off. In that mission, the DRDO planned to conduct the test against an electronic target missile. In April 2014, the warhead in the interceptor failed to explode, although the interception of the incoming “enemy” missile took place at an altitude of 120 km.

Why did they have to lie? Just admit that it was a failure. Denying the truth won't change the reality or will it?

Isn't The Hindu the most credible Indian news site.
Only If the Source is Credible
Author is Not a Seasonal defense Journalist For Instance he Stated Wrong Facts in his Argument
Like using 120 Km altitude Lie

DRDO is Govt Agency Much Like Pakistan Army's ISPR So one will Say You guys find Geo News & DAWN
Much Credible than your ARMY

Thirdly this news Has not been Reported In any other News Paper Except this Blog with No Official Credible Source to Certify Its Authenticity

There Various other Credible Sources which Posted News day after the test with Authentic & credible Sources Including Hindu

The test involved the launch of the single-stage Ashvin Advanced Defense interceptor missile from a mobile launcher at 11:15am local time and the successful destruction of an incoming nuclear-capable Dhanush ballistic missile at endo-atmospheric altitudes of 20-40 kilometers.

The Dhanush was launched from an Indian Navy vessel in the Bay of Bengal. The Dhanush is a naval variant of the Prithyi III tactical surface-to-surface short-range ballistic missile and has an approximate range of 350 kilometers (217 miles).

“The ‘kill’ effect of the interceptor was ascertained by analyzing data from multiple tracking sources,” a Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) scientist explained. “The test conducted to validate various parameters of the interceptor in flight mode has been successful,” he added.

The best part of this Indian BMD development is the massive curiousity
it has generated --- Enemies would be very keen
to know its status -- Success / Failure / Deployed / operational / S 400 / AAD etc etc

It will help us to CATCH Spies who will try to find out our secrets
