Integration of national AESA radar to F-16s will start in 2022

It means Pakistan's JF17 Block 3 will be more capable than most of the F16s which are not upgraded with AESA. This means our JF17 Block 3 will have a very bright future in the market.

It took decades to go from mechanical scanning KLJ-7 in JF-17 Block 1 / 2 to AESA KJL-7A in JF-17 Block 3. It will take many years for Turkey to make F-16 AESA considering Turkey has never made a fighter jet radar before. 2030 is very ambitious time frame. Most likely 2040 or so.

Turkey will proceed with their AESA upgrade either with US/LM blessing or not. Worst that can happen is LM will stop support for Turkish fleet but pretty understood that Turkey at this stage has so much indigenization in terms of maintenance that they can maintain their F-16s on their own even if getting cut off by LM.
But point to remember is F-16 is about to be a legacy aircraft for the US and eventually they won't care who makes mods to it, remember there are no objections to third party modifications for F-5s and F-4s.

It may be worthwhile for Turkey to try make a mechanical scanning F-16 radar first before trying to make AESA F-16 radar.

Interesting - so any country wanting to make a smartphone must make an obsolete one first as part of some process? Even if they have the technological knowhow and skillset to make the advanced version?

Do they need American permission? Israel was not allowed to put EL/M-2052 AESA in their F-16I because US did not allow.

Fake News, the EL/M-2052 already gets used on the f-15, which is a US platform. not to mention Japan has their own AESA on their Mitsubishi F-2(japanese f-16).
