Insurgents kill US soldier in southern Afghanistan

KABUL (PAN): An American soldier was killed in an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan on Thursday, said a statement from the US force.
“The US servicemember was killed in southern Afghanistan,” said a brief statement from the US media office in Afghanistan on Friday, which neither revealed the exact location of the incident nor the soldier’s identity.
So far 370 NATO soldiers, including 281 Americans, had been killed in Afghanistan this year, while last year, 566 multinational troops were killed.
Meanwhile, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), in a statement, said Afghan and coalition security forces arrested a Taliban leader in Kandahar province on Friday.
“The arrested leader is suspected of being responsible for organising improvised explosive device (IED) operations, kidnappings, and attacks against Afghan and coalition forces,” said the statement.
In southern Afghanistan, Afghan and coalition forces detained two suspected insurgents during a security operation in search of a Taliban leader in Helmand province.
He was believed to be responsible for the distribution of munitions to Taliban and served as the functional head of a Taliban direct action cell.
While in the east, forces arrested another Taliban facilitator in Nangarhar province, believed to have organised attacks against Afghan and coalition forces and enabled the movement of extremists in central Kunar province.
Forces also confirmed the arrest of a Haqqani leader, alleged organised and executed IED attacks in Logar province, on Tuesday.
Besides, security force arrested a Haqqani leader in Paktiya province, suspected of being responsible for directing attacks against government officials in the province and worked directly with Taliban leaders to carry out kidnappings and executions of several Afghans, said the statement.

3000 that we know of

half of their troops are private contractors and even though they are american citizens, the US government doesn't declare their deaths!

They also don't declare the deaths of troops in some other circumstances.

The deeath toll is at least twice higher.

btw, I rather die in these wars then get crippled. Advancements in tech and health care means many many people can be saved, but at the expense of their bodies. Some of them are missing all their limbs, eyes etc... Some don't have faces. The very least many of these vets don't have hands or legs.

Thousands have also committed suicide once they've returned from AFG+Iraq

The real number of casualties is in the tens of thousands if not 100K +

Idiot American ppl only look at these 3000, 5000, 6000 figures and they say "this aint bad." Meanwhile tens of thousands are barely keeping it together in hospitals. And the private contractors are only remembered by their families, if that.

I am only sad about the fact that these young men killed should have stayed home and enjoyed their lives with their families. Like me and you, they have dreams and aspirations.
Instead, they are brainwashed to go kill another people thousands of miles away who pose no threat to US and A itself.

Apart from the above mentioned I have no sympathy for the soldiers of US hemogony and imperialism, the more that die hopefully the faster they leave our countries and people alone and mind their own business.

All this crap about patriotism and fighting for democracy and freedom, when in reality they are used as cheap cannon fodder for the twisted ideas of insane individuals and groups back home like the neo-cons, fundamentalist "born-again-christians" and the zionazis.

I like your post , you sound very smart, breath of fresh air on these fourms. Seriously American have to be STUPID to think they are fighting for "Democracy" or " Freedom" or "their
