Before, the Mujahadeen was a coalition of different ethnicity and religious groups that united to fight the Soviets. After the Soviets withdrew in 1989, a civil war started between the various factions and in 1992 Pakistan decided to back the hardcore Pashtuns who have been Pakistan's enemies in the past in demanding their own country of Pashtunistan but Pakistan believed that religion will be a more unifying factor than against the Shia Northern Alliance whose backers were Iran and later India.

Military commanders of the were either independent or belonged to one of the following political parties:

the Sunni Tajik-dominated Jamiat-e Islami led by Ahmad Shah Massoud and Burhanuddin Rabbani
the Sunni Pashtun-dominated Eastern Shura led by Abdul Qadir
the Shia Tajik and Hazara-dominated Harakat-e Islami led by Hussain Anwari
the Shia Hazara-dominated Hezb-e Wahdat led by Mohammad Mohaqiq and Karim Khalili
the Uzbek-dominated Junbish-i Milli led by Abdul Rashid Dostum



Lets just say if Northern Alliance had won, Afghanistan would be a normal country where different sects and ethnicities would live relatively in PEACE. Most of the Talibans leaders and fighters were Foreigners that had no Bussiness going to Afghanistan deciding Afghans fate! I LIKE TO ASK Afghan's opinion on this? HOW do you feel about this? Your country would be like Iran or more progressive. Are you happy Taliban( Saudi/America) won? Most sunni muslims consider Taliban(Saudi/America) invasion of Afghanistan a good thing, "jihad" aganist the infidels. I don't see how this was different than the Soviet union's invasion??? Do you mind explaining? How does turning a country to a terrorist cell, and in violence 24/7 a good thing.How did this contribute to cause of Islam?? I like Afghans opinion on this please. I love to see Afghanistan stable an free of violence. But you let Saudi Arabia in , you are never gonna see that.....

I am only sad about the fact that these young men killed should have stayed home and enjoyed their lives with their families. Like me and you, they have dreams and aspirations.
Instead, they are brainwashed to go kill another people thousands of miles away who pose no threat to US and A itself.

Apart from the above mentioned I have no sympathy for the soldiers of US hemogony and imperialism, the more that die hopefully the faster they leave our countries and people alone and mind their own business.

All this crap about patriotism and fighting for democracy and freedom, when in reality they are used as cheap cannon fodder for the twisted ideas of insane individuals and groups back home like the neo-cons, fundamentalist "born-again-christians" and the zionazis.

I'm sadden by the fact that many Muslims come to Afghanistan to fight Jihad only to get blown away to pieces as well as in Pakistan and in other countries. Not to mention Germans, British and American Muslims as well. Fighting for what exactly? I have no sympathy for any of them. These terrorists come to Afghanistan or Pakistan to train and come to U.S. go attempt to suicide bombing on American soil. Before 9/11 nothing was happening.

And this was Osama Bin Laden's goal to begin with.

Cause a major terrorist attack in USA and USA will invade Afghanistan and that will serve as a rallying cry and thousands of foreign fighters will come pouring into Afghanistan and they will defeat the USA just like they did to the Soviets and USA will fall apart.
