If you are sharp you will appreciate the difference between an intent, assurance and a commitment ( in true sense of the word)

What the Chinese official said has nothing to do with them coming of age in the 5th gen engine department.

If you're sharp you'll admit that you're not an authority on Chinese aviation matters. You'll also admit that China is the most reliable source regarding its stealth platform development.

Actually, you know as little as I do regarding Chinese engine development. I'll take the word of Chinese officials over a forum member. As China has recently conveyed, the production phase is about to start. No ifs and buts.

hello brother :D

How have you been ? You go to college ?

If you're sharp you'll admit that you're not an authority on Chinese aviation matters. You'll also admit that China is the most reliable source regarding its stealth platform development.

Actually, you know as little as I do regarding Chinese engine development. I'll take the word of Chinese officials over a forum member. As China has recently conveyed, the production phase is about to start. No ifs and buts.

And I would take the word seriously only if I see a J20 prototype with indigenous engines.

. .
The last time I checked China has been flying full fledged J-20 prototypes for years now which have been tested to the core. Something which cannot be said about the American F-22 which has to be grounded every other day due to flaws. It is also not a secret any more that China will soon be starting full scale production. Something which has been conveyed by realiable sources in China itself.

So you admit J-20 is still in the prototyping stage, glad we agree! 2017 IOC for J-20 means 12 years behind the F-22.
You do know there are F-22 stationed in Europe right?

Like I said, Russia has a massive air force and is already operating various kinds of aircraft. Their economy is obviously able to sustain this. There is no reason why they wouldn't be able to operate their stealth aircraft in respectable numbers. Anyone doubting this needs a reality check. Russia is not a poor country even though the sanctions applied by the

Russia isn't scaling back the production of its stealth aircraft. The production has only had some glitches and delays due to technical issues.

India is buying massive amounts of sophisticated weapons from the US. The US shares nuclear technology with India. India has massive trade with the US. India is an ally of the US and that is no secret at all. India could have easily opted for an American stealth platform, but instead continued with the Russian JV. This proves that Russia has the technology and the means to build an able stealth platform. Obviously, India trusts and relies on Russian ability. Speaks volume.

Again, US India ties are warming, but we are not allies yet. Allies typically have formal treaties. Until there is a formal treaty for mutual defense of some sort or another, I don't consider India an ally, but a trade partner.

Likewise Vietnam is not an ally, even if ties are warming, because we have defense treaties with our allies.

A country that hasn't promised to have your back (colloquial but meaning binding treaty commitments) in war is not an ally.

Hope for the future, but right now it isn't so.

Hardly, American fighters are more expensive and don't offer ToT.
That transfer is a big thing for India, and its not like they have to go fight other 5th gen fighters western fighters.

So why buy more expensive no tech transfer f-35 when you can buy less expensive, less capable, tech transfer Pak Fa and still have more capability than the 4th gen fighter your rival (Pakistan) has?

That said they have been burned before by Russia, especially when buying that carrier.

. .
And I would take the word seriously only if I see a J20 prototype with indigenous engines.

You can squeal as much as you like. The J-20 is coming in its full glory and no matter what you say can twist that fact. Just deal with it now. It is better to deal with the facts rather sooner than later. You got competition and you don't like it. Not one bit. Stop being grumpy about it.

So you admit J-20 is still in the prototyping stage, glad we agree! 2017 IOC for J-20 means 12 years behind the F-22.

I think you're having reading and understanding comprehensions. I never denied the prototype stage. There is nothing to agree nor disagree here. It is rather you who is in denial about the production phase which is soon to start. Chinese officials have confirmed this so I'll believe their word over an American any day.

You know nothing about the timeline of the production. You're just guessing. Besides, the last time I remember, the Chinese literally gob smacked and red faced many with a flying prototype. You were in total disbelief. Don't be too sure about everything you seem to know. You will be in for a nasty surprise.

Why should I care about F-22s being stationed in Europe? That has no relevance with the topic at hand and it doesn't prove or disprove anything related to J-20.

LOL @ these mostly biased Western sources. Raising untrue questions/doubts and answering them untruthfully at the same time. Shame has no boundaries I guess.

Again, US India ties are warming, but we are not allies yet. Allies typically have formal treaties. Until there is a formal treaty for mutual defense of some sort or another, I don't consider India an ally, but a trade partner.

Whatever. You're willing to share some of the most sensitive technologies with India. You openly boast about your alliance with India. Yet, here you are arguing to the contrary. Stop convincing me that India isn't an ally of the US. The whole world knows why the US is sucking up to India. Ally doesn't even cover it. India and the US are like brothers and sisters and that too is an understatement.

Likewise Vietnam is not an ally, even if ties are warming, because we have defense treaties with our allies.

A country that hasn't promised to have your back (colloquial but meaning binding treaty commitments) in war is not an ally.

Same story as stated earlier. India is being pampered to counter China and the Americans will go to any extent to please her ally. An unprecedented nuclear waiver is just one little example

Russia has the goodies which it can offer to India. India is acknowledging this by being part of the JV. What good will ToT be if it is inferior? Ever thought of that? India has enough money to buy American stealth aircraft. You cannot use money as an argument. Why else would India be buying other expensive American weapons?

Again a bogus argument. India doesn't have to face off only Pakistan. China is also an opponent which has even better fighters including 5th gen fighters. Don't worry too much about Pakistan. Our air force is gradually being upgraded and a 5th gen platform from China is only a matter of time. We're no walkover if that is what you mean. Pakistan is a nuke power.

That said they have been burned before by Russia, especially when buying that carrier.

That carrier was fine. India has a habit of screwing up domestic projects. Don't even get me started.

China is not mass-producing J-20 anytime soon. A small batch of prototypes are expected to be operational in 2017 and they will be tested for several years.

Bro why are arguing with someone who comes from a failed state(and one of the top 15 poorest in the world) and renowned around the world as a terrorist hub? lol
No wonder he fled his country to seek shelter/better life in the evil declining west. You would have thought someone like that would have fled instead to friendly 'rising' countries like Russia and China isn't it?
Here comes another Indian trying to be British but showing true venom of an Indian origin, still living on benefits, imagine an ediot like you trying his level best to be a British with British flag with Christian name yet still unable to prove anything.

Yes. Actually people here tends to measure the efficacy of a platform like F35 within the realm of the doctrines currently in operation. That is patently naive. F35 is an enabler towards an altogether different generation of doctrines based on networked presence and 360 degree awareness.

I have a dream ( may come true ),
as the relationship is warming between US and Vietnam, I hope Vietnam could get some squadron of F-35As at the time China put J-20 in service. Maybe 10 years later? And unit price should be under 100 million ?
With TPP deal signed this year, I expect Vietnam could benefit our economy to make an order of 24-36 F-35A in 2025-2026
