Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry press conference | Asia Bibi Case | 1 Nov 2018

To all who thinks that state has lost today, just listen to this press conference. State has not lost yet, instead they're giving them time to end their protest peacefully or else State is going to use force.
As for review petition, ain't this their right to file a review petition?

A review petition implies that the government thinks there has been a miscarriage of justice and that this woman was guilty. Not a good situation to put oneself in.

It's your thinking but anyone can file a review petition. There is nothing wrong in it.

That may well be the case, though I would be surprised if it was so in a criminal case since the state is the prosecuting authority. However, the post of mine was made in the context of the government supposedly filing a review petition and putting her on an ECL. The logic of my post stands.

If you know why the SC acquitted her in the first place, you know that there is a good chance the review petition could end up with the same result: acquittal of the accused.

I wonder what the Government thinks will happen in that situation. Do they think that TLP would simply accept the decision next time around?

Given that the Government has seemingly back off a bit, I wonder what kind of pressure would be on the Judges who have been declared 'wajib ul qatl'.

I pray and hope there is someone who has both the authority and understanding needed to address this problem wisely.

Govt didn't ask SC to review the decision. It was misinformation.

government trying to gain time, preparing for the worst case, martial law and curfew!

Maybe to prepare for better plan to handle the mess.
However, this isn't as bad to consider a Martial Law or a Curfew for.

Do note that only intense clashes in Upper Punjab, rest of the country is pretty tame and its only a handful of people blocking roads and stuff.
