Indonesian community rescues stranded Rohingya refugees

At least 94 Rohingya refugees have been rescued by the local community in the Indonesian province of Aceh - after spending weeks at sea. At least 30 of them are young children - and many appeared to be unaccompanied. It was initially unclear if the group would be allowed to disembark - but locals took matters into their own hands, and carried the survivors to safety...Jessica Washington reports from Jakarta.

Indonesian NGO, ACT, which is previously accused by Indian government as not a genuine NGO with its activities in helping Indian Muslim after Delhi riots, has been there helping the recent refugees in Aceh. Indonesia is a democratic country with strong civilian activism, in here we dont let central government acts like God.

Nice that the locals rescued them but sad that the military is pushing them back into the sea.

No the refuges have already been saved, military cant prevent the local who are willing to help. They are still in Aceh.

A few things Indonesian did to Chinese, never really condemned by the west, may serve to improve Rohingya position in Mynamar state.

Below is what Indonesia did and I adapt it to Myanmar

1. Rohingya can consider adopting a Barmese name
2. Tone down celebration of their festivals
3. Have part of their population convert to Buddhism
4. lay down arms
5. Learn Barmese language and forget their language

This is something extra from me.

During Soeharto era we dont force Chinese Indonesian to embrace Islam and we allow them to have Christian name. If you want to compare it with Soeharto regime then Rohingya should be banned using local Rohingya name but allow to have Muslim name.

Chinese Indonesian during Soeharto regime are allowed to learn Mandarin at private language course, the one that are forbidden is having primary school that teach Mandarin language.

Some Rohingya should convert to Buddhism willingly just like some Chinese in Pinoy Moroland, and significantly higher number of Chinese are Muslims in Indonesia.

Also Rohingya should learn Barmese. Not sure what is their Barmese proficiency today, but I guess it is very bad.

They just need to do what I suggest for 30 years.

This is enough to build a national identity.

Then everything can relax.

This tragedy is due to contradiction between loyalty towards state and towards religion+race.

China policy is they prefer hands off on Chinese diaspora because this is other country citizen, other than token "concern".

If China adopt the Wahabbi pan Islamism attitude and do a pan-Chinese-ism, there will be no peace.

Logic coming from you is questionable at best.

Indos just used the soeharto regime as a comparison not even making a suggestion for the Burmese gov. to do the same.
