Indonesia warns of 'mistrust' over US base in Australia, Supports China

My country is Australia.

There are different types of drugs, and weed is a particular favorite with Western tourists. Beach-side surf shops are the usual venue. Apparently, marijuana in Bali fetches 4-5 times what it does in Australia. She and her friends had a nice little cottage industry going.

Here's an interesting read:

Why Shappelle Corby is guilty [Archive] - Aussie Phorums

When she was first caught, she said that the indonesians planted the
drugs to frame her. When they showed video evidence that the drugs were
already in the bag, she changed her story to some baggage handler
putting them in there. Then she lied about only being to Bali on one
previous occasion when in fact she'd been there at least 4 times. Then
she denied that her brother had a surf shop in Bali, but later when
asked about her going to Bali 4 times in 1999, said she was helping her
brother out in his surf shop. Plus the big unanswered question is, why
did she bring over a boogie board when not only can't she surf, but she
could have borrowed one from her brother. There's only one explanation
to all these lies and story-changing. She purposely brought in drugs
with the knowledge that in the off-chance she was caught, she'd say the
indonesians planted it and hoped that the Australian govt would step in
and intervene.

Why do countries go after drug lords, drug smugglers and drug dealers? According to you, they should just punish the users.

nooo your country is pakistan, you just live in australia... make no mistake you are not australian unless you were born here??

LMAO ok.. so marijuan cost $100 per gram??? what a load of crap.. the bali boy , the 14 year old bought 3 grams for $5 there.. so dont talk crap

"Why do countries go after drug lords, drug smugglers and drug dealers? According to you, they should just punish the users."

no i think you should punish those who distribute... but those who use it have only themselves to blame for using it, dealers dont force it down their throats?? the users go to them

.
Your ignorance is not my concern. Just look at the racist media hysteria after Schapelle Corby (guilty), the Bali Nine (guilty), the rich brat who was bragging about his drugs, and another one who got caught recently. In every case, the media went on a racist rampage about Indonesia.

It has everything to do with the topic. You never know when the racist Australian media will drum up anti-Indonesia racist fervor and what it could lead to.

Like your fellow Indian, your ignorance is not my concern.

The topic of the thread is about Indonesia having concerns over marine deployment in NT, not about the Australian media. Thus, you are off topic. Anyway we have heard this from you before "OH THE MEDIA IS RACIST BLAH BLAH" it's a load of crap.

This discussion has now been completely derailed by Developereo as per usual with his racist anti-white garbage. Take it elsewhere

Mods are useless on this forum so they wont do anything about it.

Good to know!

In most counties, including Western countries, penalties for drug dealers are much worse than for users (if any). That's a separate debate anyway.

.
Developereo stop derailing the thread with your racist anti-white offtopicness. The topic of this discussion is about Indonesians concerns over troops in the Northern Territory, not about the Australian Media or Drug dealers.

Get on topic, or get out.

The issue is whether Indonesia's concerns about Australia's intentions are justified. The Australian media's effect on the relationship is very much on topic.

This is not about pro- or anti-white. Unless you feel that Australian = white.
(You don't have to answer, we already know).

true, dealers get a lot worse here then users.. and if you have over a certain amount of drugs in your possession you are a dealer not a user... if i have 3 grams i am a user.. if i have 21 grams i am a dealer.. even though thats still not a lot, but its more then one could smoke by themselves

.
thats a stupid comment to make mate, you have no clue!!!

Don't you Indians hate Australians due to their beef exports?

Anyhow, Indonesia is a big country to defend.

There is history of grievances among Indonesians due to East Timor separation.

. .
Indonesia is so desperate to be see in the same light as China. Indonesia wants to be seen as a powerful superpower like China so Indonesia had a whinge about the marines being stationed in the Northern Territory even though it doesn't affect them in any way in the hope that it will make them look like a world player.

The U.S couldn't give a crap what Indonesia, they aren't even on Americas radar.
If Indonesia is not on America's radar, that's because they are a stealth bomber to destroy Western imperialism in Asia!

Indonesian population + Islamic resistance spirit + Chinese technology and weapons = future ruler and conqueror of Australia

It's time for Indonesians to finally rise against domination by Australia. China will help them acquire nuclear weapons if necessary.

With our Indonesian ally, China can transit from our South China Sea to indian Ocean anytime! USA's attempt to "deploy troops" in Australia unfortunately backfired badly.

China is the naturally dominant power of East Asia, accept that reality and prosper. Challenge us and you will go the same way as Imperial Japan and USSR!

If you are found in possession of drugs in Indonesia... you are fucked badly.

No connections will help you.

Don't believe me! go ask common Indonesian.

...
...

Calm down, dude.

Don't think transferring any nuclear weapon technology is a viable option, especially to a country that's yet to be proved trustworthy. It's true that China and Indonesia have been steadily developing close ties, i.e. trades, tourism, military co-op, etc. during recent years, and have been co-operating in many other areas as both share many common interests, but still, they are hardly an ally to China.

Officially China doesn't have an ally due to historic reasons, however, at the moment, among all the countries in the world, the de facto no. 1 ally of China is definitely Pakistan without a doubt. The relation between Pakistan and China has been tested thoroughly for decades.

The native Indonesian population (mainly indigenous Javanese and Sundanese) have always been been wary of ethnic Chinese population in Indonesia and kept a watchful eye on them, and would hardly let the Chinese minority gaining any real substantial political power in the foreseeable future. In fact, you cannot have an true alliance until you have an foundation of trust to build on, and that foundation lies in the whole population. Perhaps there is an effort to start to build such a relationship due to geopolitical reasons, and it started to bear fruit, but it's hardly a mature and tested relation, yet.

So please don't forget the "The May 1998 Riots of Indonesia", thousands of ethnic Chinese civilians/Chinese Indonesians were massacred, and hundreds of ethnic Chinese women/girls being r.a.p.e.d, plus hundreds of shops and houses being looted/burned, tens of thousands ethnic Chinese fled the country... as the indigenous turned the local Chinese into scapegoats for their own failed economy in the late 1990s. Many analysis indicated this whole massacre was orchestrated by the regime and military commanders at the time. It was a crime against humanity.

Of course the CCP in China kept things quiet about the massacre in Indonesia back then for their own political reasons, and many mainland Chinese and a whole generation of young people in their 20s don't have a clue about this atrocity until this day; a few dig out the old news through internet and realized the horror only after 10+ years passed, and shocked at the fact that the native Indonesian aren't that friendly towards Chinese after all...

Personally I reckon exporting traditional Chinese values and Chinese civilisation such as Daoism and Confucianism but not limited to (though not the communist ideology I may add), especially among south-eastern Asian countries, which already had many centuries of Chinese influence, is far more effective than so called western ideology. Of course, China herself requires changes as well, especially the political system, which is lagged far behind the development of her economical system. After all, you can only truly sell something that fits requirements, and when people around the south-eastern Asia start to see the Chinese system (economically + politically + traditional value) is better suited to their requirements than the exploiting system that the USA's been adopting and exporting during the past decades, those countries will ditch the USA's system, that's after them sucked and wasted considerable amount of resources from the USA though.

Yes, to break the encirclement of US (even though USA somewhat officially denies it) and its Pan-Pacific puppy states is vital, there are smarter ways to achieve that, and supplying nukes is hardly one of them - it doesn't fit China's long term goal.

ohh.... really??

The 14-year-old was found guilty of buying drugs and sentenced to two months' jail.

The judge said he had to consider the negative impact the boy's arrest had on relations between Australia and Indonesia.

"Our aim in criminalising this (case) is not for revenge, but it should serve as a deterrent for others not to follow his actions," Judge Amser said.

.
ohh.... really??

Law is strict and police take such cases very very serious!

You can't just find any escape!

What you quoted is case decided by jury, perhaps a special consideration for 14 year old Australian and we do not know the details of investigation.

I stated you got to find out by your self!

I guess in 300 $ you can get a return flight out of Perth.

Don't go to Bali, go to any major city on Java Island and ask the locals.

Surprisingly, booze is open but expensive.

EVERYONE knew all the details of the case.. it was a highly publicised one.. and a jury did not decide anything.. the judge did.. this kid was allowed to have his parents in cell next to him and stay with him, he didnt have to go to kerobokan prison and wait for the outcome, they even changed the courtroom appearance to make it... less traumatising for him lol....

so do not say that no connections will help you...
