Indonesia to buy 24 refurbished US F-16 fighters

dude i would love to suggest you to see all the posts and how it started .
Mig25 is still in active service with Indian allies . Happy

In limited service to be precise.

In military manned aircraft
Mig25 is the fastest armed aircraft
fine?

SR-71 Blackbird holds that record, although it's a recon aircraft.

MiG-25's pilots are always instructed to go by Mach 2.5. Go above that till mach 3, the engines will get burnt.

Thats why i told armed , to mention X-15 is the fastest non UAV aircraft and it is rocket powered . It beats SR71BB.
Who told you?
Mig25 pilots go at max Mach 2.8 not Mach 2.5 .

Jesus Christ kid...ever heard of an experimental aircraft? The X-15 was just that.

I mentioned the SR-71 because it was in service. And still is with NASA.

And in fact, a high speed aircraft with combat capabilities become limited in terms of combat.

And I specifically said 'instructed', not go by max. It was the gauge that was redlined to Mach 2.8.
The MiG-25 'Foxbat', despite Western panic about its tremendous performance, made substantial design sacrifices in capability for the sake of achieving high speed, altitude, and rate of climb. It lacked maneuverability at interception speeds, was difficult to fly at low altitudes, and its thirsty turbojet engines resulted in a very short combat range at supersonic speeds. The MiG-25's speed gauge was redlined at Mach 2.8, and pilots were instructed not to top Mach 2.5 in order to preserve the engines. Achieving the MiG-25's maximum speed of Mach 3.2 would result in the destruction of the engines.

Did Jesus come and tell you?
Then whats the point of bringing a true recon aircraft here?
Mig25 is recon/bomber .

lol?

dont get misleaded by the term bomber , a plane that can carry bombs is called bomber .
In WWII a plane that carries two bombs was also called a bomber .
I didnt use the term strategic bomber/tactical bomber/strike fighter here.
light bombers, medium bombers, dive bombers, fighter-bombers, ground-attack aircraft, strike aircraft etc are various terms .

Mach 3.2 on over-burning the engines.. but that's possible only for around 10 minutes after which engines will snuff it.

Just don't get it why would Mr. Bangbang prefer to have old F-16s for no reason when half the western world is already retiring it. Indonesian economy is not weak. They already wield the Su-30 MK2s.. the ideal medium category jet should have been Gripen since it is cheaper than Typhoon and Rafale. Rafale would also be good provided they could afford it in large numbers.

^^^Learn to type English, and then come back.
after all the options closed now you saw my english:tongue::P
You proved yourself that you are a fool

I pity you , go and sleep kid

Indonesia is not buying, it's a GRANT. The total will be 30 jet fighters in which 6 will be scrapped/canibalized. But Indonesia will pay for maintenance and training.

Those 24 F16 will be a temporary air defense before joint KFX/IFX coming into the production phase.

USAF would have used up much of the airframe lives of these F-16 during gulf wars and Afghan war, so do not expect them to be in long service with Indonesian Airforce. And using canabilized parts does not help to extend the airframe lives of serving F-16. I think these jets will be retired around 10 years after joining Indonesian airforce, unless they fly them sparingly.

We had similar experience with US Marine surplus second-hand A-4 back in 1980s, and they were phased out of service in a few short years. We also canabilised a few A-4 for spare parts.

KFX is far from production phase it hasn't even initiate the design phase on computer. Plus more of the systems/sub system and other relative technologies would be from US again Indonesians would be crippled with any possible future sanctions.

Negative, US has surplus airframes in storage more then 200+ with alot of life left in them, can easily complete 15 Years which is more then enough until Indonesian air force looks else where for 4.5+ generation (KFX seems impossible, PAK-FA looks more reality)

I suppose you didn't read that Indonesia is also buying new shukoi (some have been delivered). Some of those 30 F16 can be canibalized in case there will be future sanctions. I also don't think that the US will give another sanction to Indonesia which will make it siding with China. Indonesian Aerospace/ PT DI now even receives orders to manufacture components of F16.

Anyway, it's a grant, why should they refuse? :)
