At least 20 people have been injured in a suicide bombing outside a Catholic cathedral in the Indonesian city of Makassar. Authorities say two bombers were killed in the attack. Churches have been targeted in Indonesia in the past by Islamic extremists. Pope Francis said he would pray for the victims, who were attending Palm Sunday Mass.

Makassar is located in Sulawesi island, this island is close to Philippine. The network is very likely related to Abu Sayyaf group network in Philippine. Alhamdulillah it has been more than a decade where the terrorist cells can only make minor damage inside Indonesia. Actually Indonesia is doing soft approach when these guys are in jailed, and it is one of the main reason we can reduce greatly their influence. Indonesian police hire some Islamist militants high ranking officials who have realized they are making mistake to indoctrination them and make them follow the right interpretation of Islam and understand that our state ideology, Pancasila, is not against Islam.

These people have low understanding about Islam and usually are among the stubborn heart people and has low critical thinking. All societies have this kind of group, whether in the West, Africa, and Asia.

Makassar is nice place. I have been there. People are nice, Muslims there are gentle. I love Sulaweisi. Me backpack there from Makassar to Manado, and then trying to hitch a boat to philippines.

Civil war happened in Syria for democratic reasons but the war became sectrian and then foreign powers entered the war such as Russia, Turkey and US. It just became a big mess quickly the fault falls directly on the President who refused to go off peacefully. Syria is now partition in 3 parts between Russia, Turkey and US will remain so for the long term. Ending the 10 year conflict for the time being. But the fault is entirely on the president who refused and all these powers would have not intervened each chosing a side to back. Permenently occupying their share each.

The US never blamed Assad on Genocide but they however managed to do on Saudi Arabia in relations to Yemen and the EU itself openly blamed Saudi Arabia on genocide while they never did that with Assad

I still have good memories of Damascus. That time, I try to hitch from Damascus to Amman. I approach the traffic police on the highway. The police stop every truck and ask on my behalf.

I came Amman totally free of charge, driver paying all my food, hotel, Coffee...etc

I totally affirm Syrian is way way way more civilized than many people.

After that I took a ferry to Egypt. Oh no Egyptians are mercenary, especially in Cairo.

Once you get out of Cairo and stay in Alexandria or Luxor, people become civilized again.

And also, once you stay in Cairo long enough and locals get to know you, you feel they are kind and nice. They start to treat you like one of them.

First day in Cairo is 0200 am, totally safe. I walk 5km to my hotel.
