Sukhoi, Hawk are already get approval from Finance Minister to undergo major refurbish and upgrade.

23 F16 C/D upgrade I think will likely be approved as well by Finance Minister. Planning Minister has already put the program in Blue Book (Approved program for 2020-2024). 23 F 16 C/D will be already around 8-10 years old as well in 2025 after their first refurbishment in USA, so need to have another refurbishment program to prolong their life time into another 15 years beside upgrading their capabilities.

I expect the refurbishment and upgrade program of 23 F16 C/D is approved in late 2023 and contract is given in middle of 2024 and become effective contract somewhere in second semester 2024, after all of F16 A/B completes their refurbishment and upgrade program. Just like happening with F16 A/B Falcon Star Program, I hope Indonesian Aerospace engineers are included and hopefully some F16 C/D refurbish and upgrade can be handled inside Indonesian Aerospace complex, not only in Indonesian Air Force Maintenance Depo.

Stop gap measure to wait KF21 program reaching its mass production phase in 2026 inshaAllah.

Based on previous Blue Book, this is the big ticket program for US company already approved by Minister of Planning, F16 C/D upgrade. Total there has been 23 planes needs to be upgraded. It can cost around 800 million-1 billion USD if it include refurbishment as well (I hope)

Bonus: Indonesian F16 C/D with US tanker plane

Major Jeon Seung-hyun piloted, flew for 34 minutes..."Performed several missions, including AESA radar test"

2 pilots aboard the double seat to train new pilots ... Flight of No. 5 and No. 6 in the first half of the year

(Seoul = Yonhap News) reporter Ha Chaerim = The Korean fighter KF-21 (Boramae) prototype No. 4 also made its first flight.

The National Defense Projects Agency announced on the 21th that the KF-4 prototype No. 3 successfully flew for 34 minutes from the 20rd Training Wing in Sacheon, Gyeongsangnam.

The fourth unit took off at 4:11 a.m. that day and landed at 19:11 a.m. The control wheel was held by Major Jeon Seung-hyun of the Air Force's 53nd Test and Evaluation Squadron.

The first flight of the prototype 4 is seven months after the first successful flight of the first aircraft in July last year.

Unlike the existing prototype, which is a single-seat aircraft, the KF-21 prototype is a double-seat aircraft with two pilots on board with the cockpit divided into front and rear seats.

Seoul = Yonhap News) The National Defense Projects Agency announced on the 21th that the KF-4 prototype No. 3, a South Korean supersonic fighter, flew for 34 minutes from the 20rd Training Wing in Sacheon, Gyeongsangnam, and made its first successful flight. Unit 4 is the first double-seat prototype, unlike the existing units 1~3. Until the completion of system development (scheduled for June 4), the prototype will be used for various missions, such as checking the impact of the shape difference from the single-seat type on the aircraft and testing the performance of the active electron scanning phased array (AESA) radar.

With the addition of the cockpit near the front fuselage, some changes have been made to the interior fuel tank space, but the rest of the shape is the same as that of the single seat.

Of the six prototypes, four will be followed by six of them.

After development, the KF-21 double-seat aircraft will be used for new pilot training missions.

The prototype No. 4 seal, like the No. 3, has a vertical tail rotor with four planes soaring into the sky at the same time, with the difference in that the aircraft's ascent shape is colored (yellow).

During the first half of the year, the agency plans to put the prototypes 5 and 6 into flight tests to expand the flight range to a total of six aircraft and verify the aircraft's performance.

The KF-21 made its first successful flight on July 7 last year and broke supersonic on July 19. In the seven months following the initial flight, more than 17 test flights were conducted.

The agency is pursuing a development schedule with the goal of completing 2026,2 test flights by February 2.

According to KAI, the KF-21 is equipped with twin engines and is equipped with low-observable (stealth) technology. With a fuselage length of 16.9 meters, a width of 11.2 meters, and a height of 4.7 meters, it is larger than the F-16 fighter and similar in size to the F-18 fighter.

It has a maximum speed of Mach 1.81 (2,200 km/h), a range of 2,900 km, and an armament payload of 7.7 tons.
