Indonesia and China are moving closer to finalising a deal to enable the Southeast Asian country to produce under licence C-705 surface-to-surface missiles (SSM) that will be fitted onto Indonesia's indigenously constructed KCR-40 fast attack craft.
While previous statements from Jakarta have suggested Indonesia's production of the Chinese-designed missile had already commenced, a senior official from Jakarta who attended recent meetings about the project in Beijing told IHS Jane's on 22 August that the two countries had not yet come to an agreement.
