Well that fact that Sri Lanka changed its stance on the status to "Considering" to "In talks" very quickly I think the deal has gone forward more than it looks.
Its up for Sri Lankan govt and the Military to chhose what they need according to its requirments and I think Jf-17 suits most of its current needs.

whose engines are in the jf-17 offered to sri lanka ? the jf-17 is chinese combat aircraft. there is nothing pakistani about it.
bangladesh and burma have purchased chinese weapons without any indian objections.

JF17 is a joint project of Pakistan, China with engines from from Russia...you cannot cut soo many people off business without some diplomatic leverage..at-least not in this economy when Russia needs all the foreign reserves it can get..
