Indo-SL tension over JF17 Pakistan deal

JF17 is a joint project of India, China with engines from from Russia...you cannot cut soo many people off business without some diplomatic leverage..at-least not in this economy when Russia needs all the foreign reserves it can get..

You meant Pakistan !

Why is India acting like sour loser ? The LCA Teja project has not been successful so far. Indians made fun of JF-17 and now they are just jealous.

Your LCA engine is foreign also. So by the same standard, there is nothing indian about your failed LCA lawn dart. Unless modi decided to put some vedic propulsion systems in there.

you dodged the main questions. what is pakistani about the jf-17 ? whose engines are the SLAF JF-17 going to fly ?

Unless I see otherwise the JF-17 is a souped up MiG-21. There is no reason the PLAAF will be operating 500+ J-7s in its inventory when China can make the JF-17.

It is based on Mig-33 design bought from the Russians and heavily modified by Chinese with Pakistani input. Now it has over 50% parts manufactured in Pakistan. The fighter is assembled only in Pakistan. Nobody is claiming it is 100% Pakistani. Even LCA Teja is not 100% Indian.

Hi,

An Audi A6 is a souped up passat----a Lexus ES350 is a souped up Toyota camry----. A mercedes 350 is a souped up dodge charger chasis---an MLK 5 series SUV is a souped up Dodge Durango chasis----a Lexus LS430 is an upgraded Toyota Avalon Chasis----and so many other items in the industry are based onother items.

MIG21 was one of the best fighter interceptor aircraft of its time---specially in the close proximity---.

So---basically---there is nothing wrong with it to be based on a MIG21----because close proximity is the least of the issue technically---it is all about the lectronics and and BVR missiles---.

So---the BLK 3 would be PL 15 capable as well as PL12----. When the JF 17 launches a PL15 from twice the distance that a SU30 can launch its missile---the pedigree would not be in question----the only question asked would be---is it a one Kankar or is it for a two Kankar.

Space for the RD-93 turbofan; probable structural airframe changes for enlarged size, new wings, tail, larger fuselage (for new engine); and then additional modifications for Block-III, so that it can hold an AESA radar ... At what point is heavily upgrading basically designing a new platform?

Yes, the Sabre II program was openly an attempt to soup up a MiG-21/F-7, but the FC-1 (especially from PT4) carried out way too many fundamental design changes to make it even possible for the MiG-21 lineage to carry over ...

So basically Sri Lanka isn't going to buy JF 17 and India is to be blamed for that because an article in Ceylon today said so :weed:

I was thinking of the same. easy way of gaining intel about your enemy's aircraft

You are idiot if you don't know how intel works. Even a single screw on LCA and JF17 both nation already know about it.

What input do the Chinese need to modify the JF-17 ? They know more about aircraft than Pakistani ever do. China was an ally of America until 1990. They had relatively open access to Western military technology.

It is Chinese aircraft manufactured under license in Pakistan

Again what engines are the SLAAF JF-17s going to have ?

It is more than screws and bolts

Yes it's me. Have you submerged India under the ocean yet? If not, please do it.
i guess there are meetings to reconstruct ram setu . the aftermath could be discussed later on sir .

@BABA AGHORI
Did U see any pressure from Pakistan's Govt/ Mil Establishment onto Afghanistan regarding that
Ans is Loud & clear "not at all", :pissed:
Again India is not joining the competition, It's trying to scuttle a deal thats already done by undue pressure

No matter how much India disgusts me, they always do maintain an upper hand in international relations compared to Pakistan. Indians jeopardized the RD-93, U214, French Avionics deal for JF-17, F-16 etc. They might not always be successful, but by doing so they are gradually building up their lobbying capacity and learning how to lobby effectively in due process. On the other hand, we have literally no lobbying power which results in us being on the receiving end usually.

Although not in favor of aggressive lobbying which may be detrimental to our own long- term relations, we must however, let our reservations be known strongly. We let Indians build over 30 cultural centers along the Pak-Afghan border and did nothing to stop it. Look where that has gotten us. Every single time, India purchases a weopon its meant for peace but when Pakistan does it, indians make it look like pakistan is going to use it against it. We must therefore, have a very balanced and well calculated approach, cant touch the two extremes.

It is built for Pakistani market and China has not inducted it. My parent hired a architect to design and builder to a house with general specification. The Russian Mig-33 design was modified by Chinese to Pakistani specifications and it has Chinese avionics.

Klimov RD-93

It is more than screws and bolts

Whatever makes you happy !!

The onus is on Pakistan to re-balance that status quo, They have been for far too long loosing ground on that due to internal instability

Ohhh yes just a bad typo..the fact is that JF17 is a operational fighter inducted successfully..with the entire supply chain sorted...Aircrafts are complex machines with thousands of components.

In contrast the LCA Tejas hasnt taken off from the drawing board..and decisions are not made over prototypes..you are comparing something of a fantasy with something of a reality...

Third factor is the history of reliability..and Chinese have an upper hand over India at this...
Fourth is component sourcing..being a shared project..SL is guaranteed to have parts even if production facilities in Pakistan are taken out by Indian strike or terrorist attack.

Tejas production is running so slow..that many of its features become outdated before a prototype has taken off from a drawing board..this combined with reputation of Indian made choppers in Equador..does not give any confidence in reliability...

LCA Is not exactly light and when you have to make adjustments to aircraft external design and size..then you clearly know the product has long time before it can take off from the drawing board.

For Tejas, a Long Way to Go Before it Protects the Indian Skies

I think Pakistan should give off 10 F-7s free with an order of Jf-17s ....
This seems to be the best and most beneficial way to retire the F-7 fleet and this also attracts countries who are in need of urgent jets like Bangladesh etc o_O:police::pakistan:
