Here is the summary up till now:

Indian fighter jets crossed the airspace/borders with Pakistan for about two miles and dropped some bombs on empty grounds, than went to claim that they have destroyed some training camps of Kashmiri fighters killing 300 of them.. and thus have avenged the bombing of their occupying soldiers.. but this seems to be only one part of the attack, the real part was the intention to provoke PAF to chase the Indian planes, thus setting them up in a trap with other Indian fighters waiting for them from high or medium altitudes, ready to jump on them..But Pakistan stayed calm.. and then strikes at the appropriate time (After Indians saw there was no immediate reaction to the trap).. bombing empty ground too and setting the same trap for the Indians who were keen to react immediately, hence falling in the Pakistani air trap and losing two fighter jets..

PAF could have used the same tactic on IAF, which IAF had planned a day earlier against PAF like you mentioned.
