India has sufficient water storage and drinking and domestic water's crisis in never going to happen. I just visited, Narmada dam and I had a special privilege to go to under ground tunnel to see electricity plant and drive car over the dam. Dam is full of water with just 1 meter bellow overflow. They told me that even if a single drop of rain doesn't come, the water is sufficient to last for 3 years. Sardar sarovar has a huge catchment area stretching over 200 km from dam location. So water crisis is a past in most of the are of India. Extraordinary steps are being taken by Modi government to eradicate flood and water crisi for ever in the country.

Inspite of 3 to 4 bad monsoon , I get 24X7 water in my house.

Dams doubles as water reservoirs specially in plains where there are no higher mountains to store water to run it downstream to produce power as in northern India and in Pakistan. BTW water availability in Gujarat doesn't mean south Indian estates like Tamil Nadu is not water stressed acutely, South depends of Monsoon rains to fill the rivers and the dams.

North part of India depends on glacial melt and snowfall.

My CPC educated friend, Narmada is not in North East. That is why I say that you can use google to see where narmada flows? Consume some less Gutter oil so your brain can function at 10% of normal guy. That shall be sufficient to check Narmada location in google.

Perhaps, you do not have an idea of Numbers of Dam we have. I myself wa surprised to see so many dams in a small area I explored near Pavagadh. In addition to big dams, gujarat has more than 2.5 lakh check dams on small rivers etc. People build their own pond in their land. We are in a position to take at least two crops and we have sufficient water to last for drinking and other day to day work. We have a huge consumption for industries. Now our government is using sewage water supply to industry after suitabally treating them.

More and more people are going for organic farming and it is saving a huge quantity f water. Our soil quality and food grain quality is improving like anything. Now a days organic food is in great demand. Last year, i bought organic rice at rs 150 per kg which is normally available at Rs 60 per kg. If you cook it, all of your neighbors will know that you are cooking rice. That is the fragrance and test of organic food.

And yet we think democracy works. I was shocked the first time I arrived in Bangalore, I found out my hotel uses water from trucks and not a piped network.

You must have lived in any slum then. Banglore hotels are very nice unlike the smelly hotels of china serving unhygienic food.

Whats the progress on river linking my basic research says it has barely started. Just some feasibility studies and a pipeline between two rivers. It would be wiser to focus on water conservation.

It is complete in Gujarat. today Narmada water is flowing in sabarmati and many other rivers and thousands of lakes and ponds.

I do feel for those in India suffering from the water crisis. That's why I advocate a reduction in tensions and defense spending. Billions should be spent on water infrastructure in both India and Pakistan. Current state of relations do not benefit the people of the region.

Indian is fine. Worry about your own country man. India has many success stories of water management and models which can be replicated in many areas. What you guys will do. You neither have resources, nor money nor will to handle any issue forget about water crisis.
