It's an editorial. We can't say that Mr. Selig Harrison represents the New York Time's POV for the same rason.

True, but then Chinese media is controlled by the state.

There is a disclaimer though
The articles in this column represent the author's views only. They do not represent opinions of People's Daily or People's Daily Online

Anyways looks like People's Daily is hiring fanboys from PDF into it's editorial team

Well , i dont know why all this hoopla about the Look East Policy
It is mainly meant to strengthen the Interaction with the Asean States , and in the case of Japan Attract Foreign Investment and Tech
U guys should Know that Govt has certain Targets regarding FDI and Industrial Infrastructure development
Govt wants to increase FDI from 27 Billion USD in 2010 to 100 Billion USD in 2020
Govt also Plans to spend 1 Trillion USD between 2012-17 on infrastructure projects , which is nearly double the 580 Billion USD allocated Between 2007-12

A large portion of this investment ,atleast 250 Billion USD will go to Foreign companies in Japan , China , US and Europe
Area requiring this investment being Power generation , Telecom , Railways , Sea Port and Airport development

LOL!

I’m wondering if Indians in Rediff can understand English.

The Chinese articles says “India's "Look East policy" was born out of failure---- …",

Now the Rediff semi-illiterate Indians read “India's Look East policy is a failure”. :taz:

Looks like very much that not only the westerners want to pit India against China, but some Indians as well... or at least the Rediff Indians have to be more confident...

After 60 years it does not have any considerable defence pact with any powerful or strategic eastern country namely Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Pakistan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc etc. While it does operate some millitary bases in less important countries. Therefore it is not only a failure, A BIG FAILURE. Pakistan has been much more sucessful on forging strategic millitary alliance. Even Sri Lanka located in India's backdoor is millitarily more closer to Pakistan. Part of this failue is due to stagnated Indian political mentality of assertiveness and "indeginious" power.

There is no dearth of fanboys on both sides. It is getting pathetic and sometimes my head reels reading such nonsensical articles.

One thing happened for good after the publication of this article, now Chinese cant blame India's apprehension about string of pearl as figment of imagination, after this recent Chinese media bashing abot look east policy.
