India's interest in Romania is in cooperating in defence industry
Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Baconschi received on Wednesday India's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Ms. Manimekalai Murugesan, on an introductory visit.
According to a release of the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE), Minister Baconschi wished the Indian diplomat success in fulfilling her mandate in Romania and stressed that the joint effort of Romanian and Indian authorities can lead to a revival of the bilateral dialogue of the two states, according to the potential of this relationship, as well as in line with the developments and challenges of the 21st century.
The two officials approached subjects related to the two states' very good cooperation within international organizations and ways to increase bilateral trade, at a time when India is Romania's second most important Asian partner, and in the light of the Joint Romania-India Economic Cooperation Commission meeting next year.
In turn, Ms. Manimekalai Murugesan presented the priorities of her term in office, confirming once more the importance her country attaches to relations with Romania and its interest in cooperating in activity areas such as the defence industry, IT and tourism, adds the MAE release. Minister Baconschi assured the Indian Ambassador of the full support of the Romanian authorities.
