Even within Earth it only includes females of the Human Species. There is nothing special about Humans in terms of appearance. For example I find all cats and pandas cute, but not all humans. I had a cat for 14 years. He never let me hug him whole heartedly. I thought maybe that was his nature. Only later I realised that I must appear rather repulsive to him and he just tolerated me for food and shelter.

This reasoning has applied ever since we had our first Miss something. I think Aishwarya or Sushmita in the 90s, don't remember which one. Then there was a flood for some time. At that time most of Indian media (which was much more sensible that time) wrote that the west can't have suddenly woken up to Indian beauties. It was clearly to back up the cosmetics market. Then for a long time there was a lull and no one in India gave a shit about beauty contests. It seems that these pageants have done their full round of the world and have run out of countries so India is back on the list.
