6000 tonnes ( Arihant ) has 85 MW power plant, while 9000 tonnes Akula has 190 MW power plant ?

Why the difference ? can anyone educate ?

Arihant is a technology demonstrator, later ones will be bigger and will have more powerful power plant.

Actually I am more concerned about our reliable long range SLBMs. Nuclear submarines to bn hee jayengii ab

With the acquisition of cruise / quasi-ballistic missiles like the following -

BrahMos-I (Mach 2.8 ; 290km)
BrahMos-II (Mach 7-8 ; 290km)
Nirbhay (Mach 0.8 ; 1000km)
LRCM (Mach 3.2-4.0 ; 1000km)
Shaurya (Mach 7.5 ; 800-1900km)

India definitely needs dedicated SSGN nuclear cruise missile submarines too. One
such vessel may be able to carry 100s of cruise missiles and can vanquish an entire sea-front
city/base/coastline decisively. We need these stuff.

There are many conflicting reports about the power of nuke reactor in arihant.......

Here the power produced by power plant of akula is in MWt while that of arihant is in MWe

Akula is a hunter killer so it needs high sustainable speed while Arihant is a SSBN which needs to go slow & stealthy. So less power engine is sufficient for SSBN compared to SSN. Akula carries more wide body & arms than our Arihant.

It might have more to do that this is our first nuclear powerplant and it's not easy to develop such powerful once and miniaturize it to fit into a sub. So start small and impove it later.

With all respect to you sir you are wrong here. If we had to build a sub like Akula,it would have been easier to build nuke reactor for that because more tonnage means more space which in turn means more flexibility & freedom for designer of nuke reactor & it is known to every one that bigger sized reactor is more easy to design & build compared to smaller ones.

Bigger propulsion doesn't automatically mean enough power for such a big sub, especially if you do both (developing a sub and a nuclear propulsion) for the first time. That's what I meant with start small and improve it later and in older news we often heared that miniaturizing the propulsion was one of the biggest problems during the development. I wouldn't be surprised if we got some French help in this regard, in return of buying their subs, just like they help the Brazilians now to develop such a propulsion.
