India's Economy Will Overtake The U.S. By 2050, Here's How

The same report says that India will still be far behind the USA in nominal GDP in 2050 which is quite dire considering the population size of India.

However frankly if I had to choose between the USA being ahead and India being ahead, I would prefer India being ahead.

Though Indians here would answer the opposite, they always NEED the Westerners to be ahead of China. :P

This is just merely a justification to satisfy one's argument in the actual world they are so wide spread that world cannot economically extract them and China is doing so.

If the world cannot economically extract them, care to explain to me why China's supply of such dipped from 97% to 70% and is declining further?

This is pure market based forces....if China limits supply of something for political reasons, the incentives and economics of their production will take shape worldwide. Same goes for any country. The proof has been shown for Rare Earths. Time to move your argument onto anything else (if you have it).

India shits ppl have a problem,
Indian economy grows ppl have a problem,
India does not do any thing ppl still have a problem,

Wonder where the problem lies with jealous world.

Though Indians here would answer the opposite, they always NEED the Westerners to be ahead of China. :P
Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.

Did you even hear what I said?

I said I would prefer India to be AHEAD of the USA in terms of nominal GDP in 2050.

But you guys won't accept anyone being ahead of Westerners, even yourselves. :P

Unless asia rises china will always be second fiddle to western countries. By its provocative actions china has simply drowned its own rise. Its high time china joined hands with other asian countries to keep out westerners. your hypocritical stmt is indicative of china's mindset more interested in putting down asians rather than keeping out westerners. Its high time china choose one of the things.

It seems the opposite in fact.

I'm the one saying that I would prefer India to have a larger nominal GDP than the USA in 2050, contrary to the report which says India will be much lower.

You are the one getting upset at the idea that anyone can surpass Aryan Westerners. :P

Given the difference between purchasing powers of respective currencies of India and China, I think India should emerge the largest economy by PPP by 2050 in the world, however, India will lag behind China on nominal GDP measures, but may be equal US's economy by 2050.

India is a nuclear weapons state, and will likely have missiles that reach the US, by the time they catch up to US's economy in most aspects.

Don't be ridiculous.

If anything, rivalry between India and the US will likely increase in the future, which will likely lead to butting heads diplomatically, and even supporting opposing factions in foreign wars.

We have developed Nuclear weapon in compulsion. India advocated elemination of nuclear weapons for years. We will be last country to use or threat any other country of Nuclear weapon.

People do not understand that when economy grows, curreny also becomes strong. Our economy shall be driven by knowledge based and high tech items by then. So it is unlikely that Indian economy shall be lagged behind in terms of nominal terms.

That's called generalisation. Which is wrong ,just like last part of your post.

And meanwhile Americans will be sitting and doing nothing letting Indian Economy to surpass...

All this is based on a lot of assumptions,,,a hell of a lot of assumptions:lol:

If you are talking about post number 1.... its a common sense man... India has second largest population in the world... what it means is they have the second largest number of workers (contributing to GDP) who will outsource any nation on this fundamental principle alone.

I am pretty much confident Pakistan too will be around top 10 nations of the world and at least 8 of the 10 biggest economies will be the largest countries of the world

No can predict the future, of course. We are living in year 2017 and year 2050 is still a long way off. Anything can happen in the interim. These long-term projections are a fun academic exercise, but don't put too much stock in them. You're better off consulting a fortune teller.

I don't think we can predict anything that far in future. India's population will stabilize at about 1.5-1.6 billion. I would be surprised if we don't run out of natural resources before 'overtaking US'.
