Modi's India has put itself into a tight corner and now has to decide and then live with the resulting implications.

So what are India's options and what will be the implications/repercussions of each of those options ?

Gangetics try to run with the hare and hunt with the hounds, and they call it a diplomatic masterstroke, when in fact it is completely untenable.
On 1 hand, they stand to displease the the one force that could theoretically protect them from the Chinese.
On the other hand they end up pissing off the nation that supplies it with most of its military equipment. from bullets to nuclear submarines.
They lose either way.

Unfortunately for India, any breathing space that US would've granted has now been taken away by Russian invasion. With India joining Quad, the option to stay neutral is no longer open. China and Russia now go hand in hand. You cant oppose China and not oppose Russia at the same time. It would be interesting to see how India navigates this treacherous situation. I hope it burns and falls and loses its oldest and closest ally!

India is competing with China but it cant take on china alone so it needs support of America but then russia just invaded Ukraine and America g not liking this Russian expansion but India needs Russia for military equipment and their shinny new S400 but now America wont like that even more and to show its Power might stop/sanction india but then india needs supplies from Russia as their defense industry and military is reliant on russian equipments!

It's time for the Western world to see that India is a treacherous investment and that short sighted trade today with India will lead to long term future pain. India is playing the US and Europe and will be become a bigger headache than China in the future for the Western world. India ticks all the boxes for a pariah state: poor human rights record, treacherous alliances, dishonorable partnerships, Nazi government, genocidal intent, war mongering against neighbor's etc.

As long as Uncle Sam is willing to give Modi's India leeway, the Indians will grab it with both hands. The Western world has collectively decided under the leadership of Uncle Sam that India is the counterweight to China. How they came to this naive conclusion is obvious. Apart from Hindustan the Western world has very little options left. The problem for the Western powers is that India is not half the candidate able to challange China.

Japan is 50x the counterweight to China then India can ever be. China can effectively divert water from Tibet to Xinjiang and India turn into a desert overnight. China holds all the cards against India its not even fair. India is a warm up for Chinese military, a quick victory to galvanize moral is all India can ever be for the Chinese.

Yup, India is wary of China and certainly sees Russia as no longer a suitable partner in helping it advance its cause vis a vis China. Thats where the US comes in. This however, is also the most challenging part. Maintaining relationship with Russia and the US is a zero-sum game. India has found itself in between China/Pakistan and a very deep burning pit!
