I guess the stretch of land reaches up to 32 Km inside BD territory.

Blame Pakistanis for giving up your land, not us. :hitwall:

They will soon claim Calcutta saying it was suppose to be in East Pakistan etc.

True. But we should negotiate with GoI to get these back according to Indira-Mujib treaty. In the meantime, BSF and BDR should maintain the status quo.

...which never sees the face of reality bro...!!

Cheers!!!

Bangladesh should point all of its short, medium and large range missile towards India, like China is pointing 1000+ missiles at Taiwan. India does not understand the language of diplomacy.

Getting aggressive never helps. We need a good leadership to get the engines of effective diplomacy running.

AL diplomacy has brought us nothing yet: no solution to Tipaimukh river issue, financial benefits from transit seems negligible compared to previously promised figures, transit to Nepal and Bhutan remain "promises" with all the leaders only expressing "optimism", no official agreement on importing power from Bhutan/Tripura or on the necessary infrastructure, no efforts to address BD's concern about regular border killings ... (yes there's more!)

GoB has done a lot to help India: crackdown on separatists, official agreement on multiple modes of transit, letting India build fences within 150 yards from border etc.

If people do not see any "tangible" contribution from India to address BD's concerns, AL will simply lose next election. 8 million pieces of garment don't help much my dear indian forumers. How about BD letting india carry only 8 million units of items across BD territory to NE as part of transit agreement? Or 8 million units of items per year? Outrageous, no? :P

I personally have been very enthusiastic about regional connectivity and BD setting a target of generating massive revenue from transit, offsetting loss in trade with NE. Not so anymore. I want to believe there is still time to back off from the recent agreements, give India it's $1 billion back, allocate $1 billion (over 5-20 years) to build transit infrastructure for India ourselves and set higher revenue goals that's still reasonably lower than the current Mainland->NE transportation cost. I hope our intelligent, not-so-fanatic indian friends here will agree with me. :agree::smitten::cheers:

Hey Mate

Let me quote the orginal post.

.. land has been omitted from the survey list at India’s instigation .

...Bangladesh land at Noagaon Mouja of Muria union in Bianibazar upazila was also occupied by the Indians and being used by them for long.

...These lands were not included in the ongoing land settlement survey and also left out of the two countries’ boundary talks and previous surveys under pressure from India, it was alleged.

...According to upazila land settlement officials, Boundary Commission chief Sir Cyril Radcliff, in collusion with Indian Congress leaders, submitted a report in British parliament on August 17 in 1947, illegally including three frontier thanas - Patharkandi, Ratabari and Badarpur - in Assam.

Can you please explain what is your position here. The original post looks one more conspiracy theory in absence of any proven facts (saying Radcliff and Indian congress colluded , GoI pressurized , etc just shows the author does not have fact to backup his claim).

As i see it, looks like the land was included in India region by the britisher's. Was it ever occupied by BD/Pakistan post partitions? - when the borders were finalized.

I'm still not clear .. hence this query.

Again. whats new in it. The bhartis have been occupying BD land illegally. its time to raise voice actively

well we can always force them to review their position. And both AL and BNP typically listens to what the public says if there is strong resistance regrading that matter.

According to upazila land settlement officials, Boundary Commission chief Sir Cyril Radcliff, in collusion with Indian Congress leaders, submitted a report in British parliament on August 17 in 1947, illegally including three frontier thanas - Patharkandi, Ratabari and Badarpur - in Assam. The three thanas originally belonged to erstwhile East Pakistan on the basis of plebiscite held on the eve of partition of the sub-continent.

But those lands belonged to India since 1947, why such brouhaha now? All I can comprehend from the article that a plebiscite on the eve of partition went in favour of Pakistan. But partition wasn't entirely based on plebiscite, a plebiscite in Lahore went in favour of India.

Because when people did, Awami regime using worst repression and torture to silence them. Newpaper editor had jailed and tortured for speking out. But people are getting to edge..

I don't know if you are familiar with Niamat Ullah Wali, he was a suffi who had predicted 800 years ago about the time we are living today and in his predictions.. he mentioned "Sharqi" (Eastern) and "Gharbi" (Western) parts of Muslim Land and while describing the incident, he writes

"People of the East would be at fault and will make alliance with Baniya (Bakal) to assassinate Muslims ruthlessly".

I am just recalling his words again and thinking yes people of the Eastern part of the Muslim Land are still in alliance with Baniya and are still at fault. I cannot imagine how people over-look verses of Quraan and still like to think they are doing right. Do they think they are wiser than God Himself? Yhood and Hanood will never be your friends is enough to set basic policies. You don't need to be Indian Enemy but one should not forget that you cannot expect your wellbeing in their hands and that is the bottom line.
