>> Indian war machines grounded?

.
Even if their equipment was use-able,
they will not do that

reason being, the BJP government is hell bent on arming and that means capital expenditure
which leads to capital income !

That's poor engineering and it means their premium R&D organisation lack quality scientists and engineers because designing an MBT with gigantic weight is not an engineering design but some desi technician style thinking "More weight means more strength"

Did someone also inform you that the ground pressure of the Arjun is less than that of the T72? Because of the weight distribution?

That may be right... but why designers were not aware of army requirement of a lighter tank before starting in 68 tonne monster?? Is that not a blunder??

no not really i just hear in the video posted in OP , but i was expecting it to be some where around 55-58 Tons but its way beyond my expectations for a MBT ..
question is if the weight distribution is comparable to T-72 than why IA is not looking to buy MK-2 ? what is the RCS of Arjun ?

You must read the account of the former COAS where he describes how he was approached by a former colleague of two-star rank (while in service) who tried to influence certain decisions. New Delhi is riddled with agents; if the foreign delegates don't try to swing things their way, their local agents do whatever is needed to be done. This is true for all three services and their requirements, but the Navy seems to have broken away. The Russians and the French are the biggest culprits, with the British an ineffective third. Oh, how could I forget? The Italians!

are you talking about Bipin Rawat ? hope i spell his name right ..
IA was buying some odd 400 T-90's , probably for the sake of those Arjun is been put under the carpet ? I can only imagine the Russian lobby working in IA , IAF and IN ..friendship does comes with some perks after all ;)

V. K. Singh.

The first cheat: there was no need to import

Facing tapering domestic orders and with the permanent closure of the last turret casting line in the former USSR, owned by Azovstal in Mariupol, the designers at Uralvagonzavod together with experts from NII Stali (Scientific Research Institute of Steel) using trials data obtained from the Soviet-era, created a new, welded turret to offer further improvement and attract foreign buyers for the T-90. India signaled interest in the T-90 in response to Pakistan's acquisition of 320 Ukrainian T-84 tanks, which was an intuitive decision considering India held rights to fully manufacture the T-72M1 in Avadi, with production being easily adapted to assemble the T-90.

The second cheat: there was still no need to import, there were enough tanks, albeit older models, the T-55s.

The first 42 complete Indian tanks were delivered in 2001 and were designated T-90S (Object 188S), still equipped with the older cast turrets of the early series (this exhausted the remaining stocks of cast turrets warehoused at Nizhny Tagil) and powered by the V-84 engine making 840 hp (618 kW). This was followed up next year with delivery of 82 vehicles, now equipped with the new welded turrets and the V-92S2 engine, generating 1000 hp (735 kW). The initial contract stipulated the following batch of 186 tanks—now officially called the Bhishma—to be completed in India from Russian-supplied kits, and then gradually replaced with domestically manufactured parts, but the low rate of domestic Indian production compelled the Indian authorities to place an additional order for 124 complete vehicles in 2007 from Uralvagonzavod.

The third cheat: this was due to the shock of the Arjun being better, after all; check the dates

The years 2006-2007 saw the delivery of 31 T-90A tanks each, now fitted with entirely passive ESSA main gunner's sights supplied by Peleng in Belarus and using the Catherine thermal imager from Thales, as well as improved 4S23 ERA tiles.

Oh, did you know that the Arjun was designed for four soldiers to operate it, according to the specification of the Army, and that the T-90 carries three soldiers?

One for the road: check the weight of the Abrams MBT. Now compare it with the weight of the T-90 and the Arjun. Join the dots.

I think the main reason why local projects are not garnering interest from the Indian military is that they(along with politicians) are used to kickbacks. Otherwise it's a stupid choice to not support/build the local industry. It's understandable that Arjun and Tejas wouldn't be as good as European/American/Russian goods(bcuz they've been in the business for far longer) but u gotta start somewhere.
