Indian students in Bangladesh continue protests as authority denies registration

just googled, the graduates from outside India need to pass FMGE to practice in India....and 70% - 80% of the graduates fail that exam... whether these doctors practice illegally in India is different matter. Majority of Indians go to russia or other ex-soviet countries, and china.

Em... The Standard of Medical Education in Bangladesh is considered better than China and Russia. Here in Bangladesh It is generally considered that Doctors from Government Medical Colleges with top class students > Private Medical Colleges > Those who study in China and Russia

I don't think govt. medical colleges enroll foreign students, they mainly study in private institutions.

i was just living behind USTC (IN KHULSHI), Kashmir prefer to join USTC medical collage , i was working in Chittagong in 2000 , not only Indian, USTC was popular among sriLanka student also that time their annual fee was 10000 usd/year

Those idiots who wants to be doctor and engineer but don't get equal opportunity in their respective states. Plus in SAARC we have a mechanism where students and get education visas to study in any country of the region.

There are always foreign student even though in limited numbers in medical colleges and engineering universities. I found Pakistani, Iranian, Nepali, Bhutanis in BUET in my days. I even seen foreign students in govt medical colleges in those days. They had to go through government scholarship program in their country to come here.
Besides female students from Muslim background prefer Bangladesh for whatever reason I dont know.

Its not, infact its quite cheap. In India private medical colleges charge upwards of 25000 USD a year. This is obviously for the students who can't get a place on merit.

Yes and may be under the SAARC or other quotas but foreign students in govt. institutions are generally very low since they have excessively competitive admission tests and highly subsidized education. Higher seats for foreign students in these institutions will spark a protest by local students.

25,000 USD/year is huge, with that amount of money you can easily get enrolled in a mid-range US university. It looks like there is a huge inequality in higher education in India which is mainly for those who can afford, in that case, it's not really merit-based.

Govt. Medical college also enroll foreign students. There are SAARC quotas as well as quotas for other foreign nationals. Around 100 SAARC and non SAARC students enroll every years.I have seen Nepali, Bhutanese, Palestinian, Malaysian, Pakistani students studying in govt. medical college.

The Average life Expectancy in Bangladesh is 3 years longer than India. So keep that mouth shut until you surpass Bangladesh.

Number of seats for foreign students do not affect the local government seats.




People commenting here have no clue about undergraduate medical studies. It is basically same in Bangladesh, Pakistan and India which in turn better than Developed countries, cause here as a medical student you can touch patients instead of using dummies

yes. any medical college's students thats approved by WHO and UNICEF can apply for MCi examination in india.

1 crore for private college, not for govt college, for which you need to sit in an enrance test. There is a fight going on between MCI and private colleges, regarding whether private colleges need to get students through same common test.

govt colleges have limited seats... so for most NRIs including my friends... private college is the way to go forward.
