Indian para commandos, flying with mounted machine guns on MI-17 helicopters have hit two rebel bases on the border with Myanmar and claim to have inflicted 'significant casualties on separatists.

Local sources on the border said they saw Indian military helicopters flying around, firing heavily from machine guns.

They said the helicopters appeared to have crossed the border into Myanmar to hit the rebel bases that were located just across the border.

The army however said they had hit the rebels at the two points on thickly forested borders but did not admit they had crossed into Myanmar.

the Indian Army engaged two separate groups of insurgents along the Indo-Myanmar border at two locations, along the Nagaland and Manipur borders.

It had pointed to a Chinese retired PLA colonel and an Burmese arms dealer as supplying the NSCN-K with weapons.

as I said earlier,we made similar OPs in bhutan,Bangladesh and Myanmar before.ULFA cried a lot on this issue.but you're never going to get a written statement from Army as they stick to the "Official Line".

Advantage of having friendly relations with neighbours. Pakistan might want to learn a thing or two about that!

(Indian forces have done this in the past too, in Myanmar, Bhutan and Bangladesh. That is how ULFA was decimated, not to mention several other insurgencies in the NE.)

While congratulating the commandos, we forgot to commend the efforts of the intel guys. The militants gathered to listen to a speech of their commander...this info was leaked to India which made the task easier. So...a perfect combo of intel + special forces gave us this victory. Kudos.

Its Inside Myanmar 21 PARA (Special Forces) conducted the surgical strike and eliminated all the insurgents responsible for the death of 20 Jawans of 6 Dogra Regiment, on the basis of intelligence inputs from IB and R&AW 21 Para neutralised close to a dozen militants involved in the Manipur ambush. The Special Forces entered 2 kms in Myanmar territory & were inserted via Mi-17 helicopters & conducted the raid in which more than 50 terrorists were killed & large amounts of ammo & Intel were captured.
