Russia invited India to join FGFA project asked for initial 500 million investment... even after couple of years no work sharing in project and only invited IAF officers for photo ops... India time and again asked for sharing of work and know how after the prototype the IAF was not impressed anyway so India pulled back...

Oh how much the tables have turned. India has very little bargaining power with Russia because Russia knows that its weapons are always gonna be way cheaper than those of the West and the West will never offer technology transfer.

MCA will benefit India much more than FGFA in the long run. In all likelihood, we will never see 5th gen air warfare in S.E Asia. Drones are the future and its wiser to invest in the path towards indigenous manufacturing of such platforms. What IAF has now is more than adequate in defensive role.

One thing I always wonder is why there so much hype in India about Rafale Jets. I mean what extra do they bring to IAF which is more capable than what rest of the world has. Yes they are better than the existing inventory of IAF but in regards to rest of the world what is edge they have?
