China has freed 10 Indian soldiers seized in a high-altitude border clash in the Himalayas which left at least 20 Indian soldiers dead, media reports said on Friday.

The release follows several rounds of talks between the two sides in a bid to ease tensions after the battle on Monday, in which scores of troops from the two sides fought with nail-studded batons and hurled rocks at each other.

The 10 soldiers were freed late on Thursday, the Press Trust of India news agency and other media reported.

Don't read too much into these folks. India wasn't even present at Finger 8, it's the claimed line, Indian post is at Finger 3 and Chinese at finger 8. Issues started when Chinese occupied until finger 4, set up camps Helipads, jetty and other structures at this point until finger 8. Which was the main reason for the standoff, which India then complemented by putting troops in South Bank of Pangong Tso and covering heights at Kailash range and blacktop. This can be claimed as a victory or not, the point is India is not retreating from its position rather China who set up a real military base until finger 4 is retreating back to finger 8. We don't have permanent structures after finger 3.

No Mig-29 in sight however usual Indians.....we only lost a MiG-21 but he shot down an F-16 before that....we even forced PAF to drop bombs NEXT to their targets.....forget how we shot down our own Chopper or what it was doing in the middle of a battle or why Modi was crying for Rafales or where did we pull out the AMRAAM from.
Clash on LAC.....Chinese killed 20 Indian soldiers and captured Ten, the fate of which was unknown until informed by Chinese......Indians.....but we killed 45 but never captured a single one.....
And so the story continues of Indian victories left right and centre.

Sirji, that is the whole disengagement is all about. Soldiers moving out of these areas, from Finger 4 to finger 8 can be seen from the images posted in this thread.

i have. all indications are India lost. since you live in India, you can tell the retired Indians generals they are wrong to their face and tell them to read. they have so much to learn from you.

you don't have to be a genius to understand who won here. In 1999 we saw Pakistani intruders on mountain tops and did what needed to be done- punched a 100 shells into mountains, bombed with fighers and sent soldiers to scale them. We took the damage that needed to be taken. Did the chinese do any such thng? They withdrew in the summers of all times. Means they were never serious to start with.

Not looking for validation from outside is something you need to learn from the Chinese, your iron brother let alone an Indian.


Prioritising talks is what sane people do and it was done. However the talks were backed by actions. The videos of Indian and Chinese tanks disengaging from 100 mts apart must give you an idea.

and in modern warfare if an adversary is coming for talks then it means that it has been coerced to start that action and sees a legitimate result but if the defender is weak then talks will never happen as the aggressor has an opportunity to mow down the defender hope you get it.

China taking 1000 sqkm is a complete lie as PLA has now vacated everything they encroached.
The issue of Depsang predates the current situation and can not be alluded to this stand off and rest assured of a talk about that too once they pull back and we pull back from kailash range.

We are not an autocracy to spin things as we wish, be that as a naive(that u might think) as it may, but just that we were able to stand eye to eye with the Chinese and bring about a resolution speaks volumes of our methods.
Now the Chinese honestly don’t have skill for mountain and high altitude warfare. Heck they even can’t match you guys. I’m happy they agreed.

So the Indian defense minister was lying to the Indian parliament when he said the disengage to is limited to pangong tso the rest of the areas have not been discussed yet. India agreed to no longer patrol any areas and return to their permanent base at finger 3. Since there are no troops on kalash range, the Chinese due to their superior mobility can drive up to the Indian base at finger 3 giving almost no warning to the Indians.
