I think this is just a "MINDSET" which have been made of common people.

When parties din't gave any tough fight, people will obviously have to vote for a Gandhi, but now since we have a TOUGH candidate, ANYTHING can happen.

Remember even INVINCIBLE Indira was defeated.

Goes something like.... when you talk about the development of Amethi, you pass the onus on to the state govt & claim to be helpless. but the same state govt is so close to you that they did not even put up a candidate against you.
