Quasi-ballistic Shaurya is the PERFECT MISSILE for this job.

I agree with you, a hybrid trajectory will be hard to intercept and is perfect for the job. But making a missile operational from Silo is not that hard, not taking about cannisterized.

Guys why is everyone upset about the small number of warheads? Firstly it is not the number but the yield that is important and also how you use them ie nuke triad, ICBMs and well distributed. There is no point in India spending huge amounts on building more and more nukes they don't make you any more safe than having a handful. Pakistan has the unenviable title of having the fastest growing nuke arsenal on earth and no one thinks they are the most powerful nation on earth and this fact is used against them constantly.


At the height of the cold war the USSR and USA had enough nukes to destroy each other hundreds of time over so it is pretty pointless to keep adding more and more. I'd much rather see the money spent on Rafales or C-17s tbh.

its diplomacy to maintain the number of nuke not more than 100 to avoid any sanctions. If you speak out all your strong points , they become weak points.

but for India it will take atleast 10 more years to develop full fledged compact sophisticated weapon design.

All these think tanks should be tanked they don't know what are they talking about, they keep ranting old figure of 80-100 nuclear warheads for last 10 years.

1. India will have 5 Arihant Nuke submarines with 12 nuke missiles each 5 X 12 = 60 nukes.

2. Then we have Prithvi missile, Agni I missile, Agni II missile, Agni III missile and Shaurya Missile.

If one takes 20 nukes each for these 5 missiles then = 100 nukes

3. We are also going to have Agni IV, Agni V very soon.

4. And not to forget the IAF fighter jets to drop Nukes.

My estimate is that we have 180-200 nukes (becasue of china factor govt. have given go ahead for more nukes).

The old estimate of 80-110 nukes was valid till we were only focused on pakistan.

But due to china threat India have increased their nukes rapidly for last 5 years.


1. Till 5 years years ago India have not taken china threat so seriously.

2. We also don't have a missile for china too.

But things have changed rapidly.
